well if it's analyzing a route that will be taken by American VIPs and officials later this month, no need to get into scraps with our police or disobey their orders....if it was the other way around, Pakistani officials would have been arrested on-site and held for days.


when orders are given in the host country, they should be respected.....there have been incidents involving unruly or uncooperative foreigners; these incidents should cease because it angers not just law enforcement agencies (who are already on-edge and under a lot of inexorable pressure) but it also angers a wary and already suspicious public. Rumours spread faster than fire in Pakistan, and even a false rumor could cause major tensions to rise --especially after Raymond Davis episode.


there are fine red lines by both parties -- the Pakistanis and the Americans. Both should not cross the red lines of the other.

what i want to know is --- why was there even a heated debate?

if some grunts with machine guns and uniform and radios tell you with a firm voice to leave an area immediately -a sensitive one - it is NOT a good idea to ''argue'' with them or even show any attitude.


arent these people briefed? I would imagine foreign (especially western) diplomats, officials, protocol officers etc. are briefed very specifically about how to operate 'trouble-free' in a Pakistan which is on edge nowdays......



and please remember that Pakistan in the past was forced to intervene and arrest/deport diplomats who were spying on sensitive nuclear facilities --even before the nuclear tests of 1998.


Pakistan is a sovereign country and such actions can never be appropriate or acceptable in ANY country ---ally or foe.
