US offers assistance to bring back Bangladeshis

US Government will repatriate some of the thousands of Bangladeshis currently stranded in Tunisia as a result of the conflict in Libya.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh James F Moriarty confirmed it on Monday, said a press release.

“On behalf of the American people, I am glad to announce our assistance and support to so many Bangladeshi citizens in need,” Moriarty said.

Working through the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the US has pledged $5 million to support the humanitarian relief effort, he added.

These funds will enable IOM to provide flights to immediately transport thousands of Bangladeshi nationals out of North Africa.

The US Government will continue to work with the IOM and other agencies to explore additional means of humanitarian assistance to Bangladeshi nationals, the release added.

@ America had a long tradition to help the distress people. I remember in 1917/18 once most the European countries were under the subjugation of German Empire during the First World war, Americans came to rescue the distress people of the world. The the American President Wilson declared his famous theory, "One Nation One State". That means the countries which are now under the colonial rules like UK, France, Germany, Spain, Holland etc should whole heartedly support the Allied Forces against the Central Forces and after the war would be given independance.

@ Again, during the Second World War, once the whole of Europe was under Hitler, some of the areas of Far East was under Japan, America came forward and rescue the world. After the was under the "Marshal Plan" many economic aid were given to many countries.

@ After the war, once China occupied the capital city of South Korea, America came and evicted the Chineese and the North Korean.

@ In Vietnam war once the France failed to re-occupany the Indo-Chineese countries America came forward and fought against North Vietnam and Chinees Communists finally they withdrew in 1974.

@ In 1979 once Russia cxaptured Afganistan again America came to help the Mujahids and finally evicted the Russian.

@ Once Saddam captured Kuwait once again American came to rescue the Muslims and finally defeated Saddam.

I think now I should stop praising America further otherwise I would be thrown to "Ganga Jal".

Yeah during 1971 East Pakistan insurgency, US also helped the distressed Biharis and West Pakistanis in East Pakistan and even sent a battle-group to Bay of Bengal to evacuate them.
