US national held for overstaying in Pakistan

A case has been registered against US national Matthew Craig and he will be deported.


An American citizen was arrested in Islamabad for overstaying in Pakistan as his visa had been expired.



US national Matthew Craig was told to leave the country after his visa was expired on June, but he failed to abide by the advice.



Craig had been living in Pakistan for the last three years and he married a Pakistani woman.



According to police, a case has been registered against him under the Foreign Act and he would be deported soon.

If the person married someone , I think its a special case - There seem to be a lack of common sense in some cases

And i think if a Pakistan man married some foreigner women, she can get the Pakistani Nationality but not in the case Vice Versa.

If he is married to a local then he should have every right to stay & live. Can put some restriction to work.

If he is married to a Pakistani women and in good standing, in my opinion he should be allowed to stay and become a naturalized citizen provided he fits all the requirements set by the law.

I'm not sure how Pakistani nationality laws work though. How doe naturalization work?

If he is married to a Pakistani and there is no evidence of his involement in suspicios activities against pakistan he should be allowed to stay.
He should take his case to high court and i am sure GOP will lose the case.

I think its just a case of him being careless and failing to apply for a visa renewal. But then he has a wife here and it will be very inhumane to deport him.

Pakistan authorities should not jump over any decision, first there should investigation over his living record and traveling through out Pakistan and surely there is something to believe then ignore.

Under the present scenarios we cant even trust Zardari ...who is this guy.....cant trust him under no circumstances....for sure he is a CIA special agent cuz normal pplz of US are not coming to Pakistan under the present situation here.....

and why he dont wanna stay within US with his wife.....what is the problem there...????....cuz the common pplz in US are scared to come and live in Pakistan under the present situations.....he is upto something very special and everybody knowz about it.....

His source of income is secret ....run by CIA ....so cant be trusted,,,,,,,.............no matter if he is married or not married......didnt US throw out the Russian lady from NY...last year....

Yes he didnt care to renew his Visa cuz in his mind There will be no more Pakistan on the Worldz map...thats the reason behind his laziness....He is not dumb ..he realli played smart ...but outlasted by Allah SBWT game .....made CIA gone crazy .....Alhamdolillah.....

Pakistan will be always on map, but some other countries may not be

The Yanks expect foreigners to follow their law to the hilt when it comes to residency etc. They should likewise have the same approach whether in Pakistan or any other country. Good going Pakistan
