US mulling sale of armed drones to allies including India

why is that whenever we tend to make some meaningful developments in any field be it BMD or UAVs or ATGMs, US are more than willing to sell us those weapons ? and the same people snubbed us when we asked for them earlier ?

earlier they even kept our LCA datasheets etc and are now willing to sell F35 ?

IMO, it is easy to fall for these offers(if true).... difficult job is to create the domestic technical know how in these critical technologies... which is the sensible thing to go for..

There is no big secret in this, current geo strategic goals of USA need India to be comfortable on various fronts so that we can stand up for them here in Asia.

I doubt this will go through. Using drones against other nations is generally regarded as violating the sovereignty of the nation attacked. Even with the leeway the US has in the world arena, it's controversial drone program is being brought in public, & I predict that even the US will have problems using it as profligately as it has been doing. India does not have that kind of leeway in the world arena, & with the high chances of civilians getting killed if something even goes slightly wrong, India would not want to take the risk.

As the US manufactures about 43% of the entire world's arms & military equipment (& is the only real prospering industry in the country), it is no surprise that it makes perfect business sense for them, like it has been doing in the past.

US's status of economic superpower is backed by its enormous military power

as one american officer said " hand of market cant work if it is not supported by secret punch "

till now US has send its army in foreign land 70 times

vast war expenses in WWW2 brought US economy out of GED

when US goes to war, its arms companies make very large profits

when reconstruction in nation invaded by US starts all contracts go to European or US companies

military prowess is a stick which gives US leverage over other nations

hence spending on arms is must for US




hence spending on military tech makes sense for US

I think they should sell us regardless of tech because its clear they are not able to protect the tech from their enemies succefully. Whats thepoint in not giving the tech to friends if your enemies are getting it anyways ?

So try to be partner in their long endurance Solar Eagle UAV program.(As we are seeking partners)
India to develop solar-powered UAV, scouts for partner

If India is sensible, it won't go through with the deal. The US wants to sell off their armed drones to India, it makes perfect business sense for them.

see how desperately Ur trying to tell us that we shud NOT buy drones frm US. we know they are just exploiting the insatiable desire of our MoD .. they are NOT our allies but in the same breath I wud like to suggest you that China is doing the same to Pak.. the Chinese are NOT an all-weather freind , shes taking you for a ride.... just exploiting the situation as India and Pak dont look each other in the eye....Aand it suits them to supply U guys with their gadgets...but why dont U want to wake up and see it. ???

To make something comparable to the most modern ones out there , you need to start on a good technology base , and this drone might fulfill it.

For use along LOC these things would be very useful. They can cover a huge area and conduct surveillance on infiltrators and then take them out when nessercary.
