US may outsource lightweight satellite launches to India

There is nothing to transfer...America gives the satellite,India puts it on top of their rocket and puts it in orbit. if I am not wrong the Indians have been launching satellites for other countries for a long time.

It makes sense...India will do it cheaper and it frees up the budget for more complex launches.

The Exact words i wanted to use.

.
^^ Exactly. When the satellite is delivered, it's not like India is going to sneak it into a room and take it apart... it'll be monitored all the way up to installation on the boost vehicle.

I see nothing wrong with this. It is a form of trade. India gets cash, the U.S. gets its satellite in orbit. Win-win.

well its not just the cash we are interested in.....we already earn significantly from others countries ....Turkey being among them ..in this field ....and if we agree then we'll agree on the basis of further ease of Tech transfer in the form of " sensitive " sat tech .....

in this case the U.S needs such a deal more than us( they can hardly outsource this to Russia or China )......so we could use any leverage we have to try obtain what we need......

I thought that manned spaceflights have already been outsourced to Russia since the end of the Space Shuttle program until the next American manned space vehicle is developed.

is it ? I 'm not sure ...I know that Russian missiles and Atlas rocket engines have been transfered( bought ) to the U.S for a number of their spacecraft launches.....but as for satellite 's they would be entrusted to the launching organization i.e India's ISRO.....and million $ satellites like the Israeli Techsar would be safely given to Indian responsibility only if the satellite host country was convinced of the safety of Indian launch capability
for eg.The 100$ Isreali satellite Ofeq experienced a launch failure on board the domestic israeli Shavit rocket leading to its destruction.....

successful ,reliable and economically viable satellite launch facilities are quite few ....and India's ISRO 's Antrix corporation certainly counts among one of them......

Space shuttle program has not yet ended...once it ends yes you are correct. Russia will be the only country launching manned spaceflights till the Orion craft is ready though the shuttle program may still get extended.

Turkey should help Pakistan with satellite technology, we should transfer all technologies without any restrictions to our Pakistani brothers.
for technology to be tranfered by turkey, there should be technology within turkey!...hahaha:rofl:

It is not about money...It is about the respect...USA believing in Indian satellite technology....great confidence boosting for ISRO
