What's new

US Major General Killed by an Afghan soldier.

That's sarcastic. US want to trust ANA more than Pakistan and look what they get in return so many time and this time a general in a coffin as a gift from ANA.

There is a reason why Afghan Establishment always meddle with everyone around them and haven't progressed compared to neibours like Iran Pakistan Uzbekistan etc
let alone India and China

And same treatment will be given by ANA to Indian wannables as well wo are dearly trying to have a romantic love affair with them.

What hypocrycy is this? you get commission into a force that runs completely on US funds bred fed and trained by them and then you attack them saying they are occupying your country? Taliban may be justified with this logic but ANA? PLEASE

I didnt support either US or Taliban both are wretched hypocrites. But if ANA bites US forces its really lame and shameless. They should be thankfull to USA for what US did to make them from a rag tag militia into a proper institution

And I am saddned on death of this general only as he was a professional performing his duty but not as a US general. You sow what you reap. destabalizing and destroying the middle east by such shameless meddling and don't expect roses.
Condolenses with the Family and Friends of the demised of course. RIP

Not a good pointer for the things to come in Afghan future.

British tried in 19th century to have a national army for Afghanistan and they miserably failed.

oh damn....these Afghan security forces and British incompetently run academy.

An American Two-Star General Has Been Killed In An 'Insider Attack' In Afghanistan

An Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier at the guards at a British-run military training academy Camp Qargha, in Kabul on Tuesday.

The New York Times is reporting that an American two-star general has been killed in Afghanistan, citing "officials of the American-led coalition" in the country.

The officer would be the highest-ranking American military official killed during the now-12-year-old U.S. operation in the country, just months before the U.S. is scheduled to cease major combat operations in accordance with the Obama administration's announced timetable for withdrawal.

The major general was shot and killed in an "insider attack" — or an attack undertaken by a uniformed member of the Afghan National Army or police.

The attacks became more common as the coalition campaign in Afghanistan continued and as more Afghans were trained and integrated into their country's military with an eye toward transferring the country's security burden to its citizens, a drive that also made the military more susceptible to terrorist infiltrators.

A record 37 insider attacks in 2012 left more than 50 people dead, compared with just two attacks in 2008, according to USA Today.

In addition to leading to the death of a top U.S. military official, Tuesday's attack casts a harsh spotlight on how little success the U.S.-led coalition has really made in handing off security responsibilities to the Afghan government.

UPDATE: According to CBS's Charlie Kaye, the Pentagon has "confirm[ed] American general officer among those killed in Afghanistan shooting."

US must do one final troop surge into border towns to wipe out all Taliban. This time they will have nowhere to hide as Pak border is sealed, sandwich the f**kers. Hopefully dead Fazullah at the end so its win win for all.

Don't we have a name who killed who ?

A German General has also been injured in the SAME attack!

Something tells me, this isn't going to end well for anybody.

unusual silence in the western media over this given that this is the most senior casualty in the US army since the Vietnam war

This is something which will send shockwaves far and wide.
Can anybody please remind us, when was the last time a US General was killed in a combat zone.

This will do wonders for the trust level between the ANA and the NATO and the morale.
