US House Subcommittee Hearing: Bangladesh’s Fracture: Political and Religious Extremism

Problem is that even after 25 years people still could not figure out how dumb Khaleda Zia and Tareq are. There is a lot of decent emotional people who are still loyal to BNP and they will continue to be this way for I don't know how many more years.

Bangladeshi people should not care about what system of govt. we have or what party is ruling, as long as there is peace and prosperity from development and growth. India will never allow that to happen in Bangladesh, and the US cares very little about us except for anti-terrorism, for which they are happy to have us under abusive control of India. So the best option for Bangladesh is to lean towards China.

At this moment, I would urge decent smart people to join Awami League and create a pro-China faction within Awami League and eventually take both Hasina and her son Joy from Indian control and move them over to Chinese control. This should not be hard to do, as China is planning to invest $15-20 billion in Bangladesh.

Armed forces get most of their arms from China, so I believe most of them are already pro-China or at least have a soft corner for China, the pro-Indians who were bought by India will sell them to the highest bidder, when Chinese money and capital starts moving into Bangladesh.

There is a Confucius center in Dhaka, I would urge young Bangladeshi's to go there and learn Chinese. Future will be great for people who will take the trouble to learn Chinese language:
Confucius Institute at North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh

The BNP activists are useless people. And like I said, small countries are unimportant for the US and it's logical for them. Business-wise, they don't make much sense to me.

It's really a matter of credibility of India. It'd be a mistake to assume that Bangladeshis are like the Nepalis. They have the urge to 'evolve'. To grow. We all have our little dreams. And Hasina badly needs support from the Bangladeshi public. It doesn't matter if India backs her or not.

Having an idea is one thing, but realizing it is another.

I suspect that Joy can very easily be tempted into the Chinese camp. It is only a matter of time. It can be safely said that the man is addicted to the power of money. But yet, in control unlike Tarek.

Thanks for this thread. It was very informative. I was always curious as to America's actual intentions here. It's hard to read them unlike Indians. And of-course, thanks to Mr. Riaz for the initiative.

I can remember Joy tried to make out to US government that there was a serious Islamic militancy problem in Bangladesh. They told him to get lost, lmao. This is how funny the Hasina family is. Dumb, stupid and ridiculously corrupt.

Be careful Saiful Bhai. They are not dumb. Corrupt maybe, but certainly not dumb. They really know how to hold on to power no matter what. That was where Khaleda Zia failed.

The US GDP is around 17 trillion, Bangladesh around 170 billion, so the US economy just about 100 times bigger than Bangladesh, we are a tiny 1% of their GDP. Also, you should see state GDP's:
List of U.S. states by GDP - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Our country is about the size of Iowa and our GDP is also similar to Iowa, population, 3.1 million.

Whether Bangladesh exists or not matters little to the US.

We provide some sweat shop cheap labor for some US companies, but if we don't, there are many other cheap labor countries that can do this job.

The main concern for the US in Bangladesh, a country of 160 million Muslims, is security and anti terrorism, they don't want another Yemen where they have to chase AQ with drones and spend resources for this activity. India and Awami League beautifully meshed their plan into these US concerns when Gen Moeen gave them an opening. Gen Moeen was promoted by Khaleda Zia bypassing some senior generals at the suggestion of Moeen's classmate Iskander, Khaleda's brother. Now guess what, this Moeen guy was in Khaled Mosharraf's coup attempt, I believe participating in it as a young officer. Somehow he escaped pole vaulting a boundary wall and saved his skin. So if his background was checked carefully, Khaleda and sons could easily figure this guy out, but dumb as they are, they dug their own grave. And then India and Awami League did the rest.

From then on till now, India and Awami League I believe has convinced the US that it is better for secular's like them to be in power to keep Islamism and terrorism in check in Bangladesh. Killing of secular bloggers, occasional bomb blasts, creation of so called terror groups like JMB, HUJI, ABT, AQ in South Asia taking credit for activity in Bangladesh - you can connect the dots, and see who gets benefited from all this. So terrorism even if its nonexistent here in our parts, might be a manufactured problem, just so some people can justify their rule, get more funds, goodies from the US and what not.

In any case, Khaleda I believe is history, only the last chapter is remaining, which I am waiting to see how she handles it and close the curtain and ends an era in Bangladesh politics, which is emergence of BNP and its subsequent demise. Then all of us can say Alhamdulillah and join Awami League en masse, the only remaining party in Bangladesh, just like the Communist party in China. A true BAKSAL era has arrived and we should embrace it with open arms.

@Loki @kalu_miah Witch hasina and his corrupt son becoming chinese dalals? R u joking? Remember it was India that brought Hasina to power, consolidated her grip on power by political abduction and destruction of the BDR & army not to mention the brains behind constitutional amendments and unconditional support to 2014 election. U think they have done all that without taking due measures for any contingencies u guys r alluding to? Dalals like hasina can't choose and double cross their imperial bosses. They r just for doing administrative chores in respective vassal states. I highly doubt whether hasina & co even have the power to step down. RAW already consolidated its grip on various state institutions including the army. They r now talking of training our bureaucrats. If history is any indication, in the long run, dalal rulers of vassal state become lobotomised figure heads of administration.

Interesting, good to know about Ali Riaz's affiliation. His testimony tried to be somewhat neutral if you read the full text.

I read it. It seems he was somewhat neutral but unashamedly defended the circus show of "war crimes" tribunal and also didn't mention india's blatant interference in BD. He wants india's active involvement in stabilizing BD. Also he outrightly blames BNP and specifically JI for the petrol bombs even though there r a million and one evidences pointing to chapatileaguers involvement in such violence.

I looked Ali Riaz up on Wikipedia, and he's actually a Bangladeshi, not an Indian.

I said indian dalal. If he was Indian he would not be a dalal, would he?

. . . . . .
Yeah that was my point. BD is an Indian vassal with no chance of becoming a chinese one.

Well, India itself is becoming a Chinese vassal of sorts, so I think we have some hope. It may take a while though. China has both, weapons and money, India has its RAW, which may not pick a fight with China. Lets see how it turns out.

. . . .
BAL played the balance game good so far.Poll Vaulting is in their nature,I precise.

I am waiting for day when they will unite with the new boss AKA China.
