Washington—In response to the steps India has taken to revise the status of Jammu and Kashmir, Representative Eliot L. Engel, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Senator Bob Menendez, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today issued the following statement:

“As the world’s largest democracy, India has an opportunity to demonstrate for all its citizens the importance of protecting and promoting equal rights, including freedom of assembly, access to information, and equal protections under the law. Transparency and political participation are the cornerstones of representative democracies, and we hope the Indian government will abide by these principles in Jammu and Kashmir. And at the same time Pakistan must refrain from any retaliatory aggression—including support for infiltrations across the Line of Control—and take demonstrable action against the terrorist infrastructure on Pakistan’s soil.”

The US is laying down the ground rules. The name of the game is building up your case and soft power in the minds of the world. They (the nations of the world, and their people) have the means of starving India of Trade and Business, as was done to Apartheid South Africa. This is more effective then anything else.

If India loses Billions and Billions in Trade, Tourism, and business deals then Indians will lose jobs, and put pressure on their government to pull back.

Not going to happen. You are free to imagine things for self satisfaction. Kashmir is a bilateral issue. No country is willing to poke their nose

Whatever you have to tell yourself. Leave it to the people of the world to decide.

NO! It is not up to them to decide. You have no idea about Kashmir. I suggest you do some research about the issue first. Kashmir can only be a international issue when India and Pakistan together request other countries to intervene. India will never do that. That means no country can intervene in this issue as long as the planets and stars and the sun lives

These americans said everything correctly, honorably and seems in sincerity. Pakistan is loosing all terrorist/militant support not for indias sake or american sake. We will loose militancy and violence for the good of pakistan.

But there is a big difference between terrorists who terrorise and freedom fighters who fight for their freedom.

Terrorists kill innocents and criminals alike. Freedom fighters only kill occupation forces and oppressors.

Hopefully people will learn from the Taliban.

The only people respected are the strong and the brave. Play by American rules and be ready to be slaves.

Never a truer sentence written.

Iraq complied totally. 1 Million dead due to sanctions before the first bullet was fired, and look at its situation now.

How many North Koreans dead due to American direct actions? Not one.
