It should not be.

The entire reason of this trip was to expand the cooperation between USA and Pakistan beyond the myopic scope of War on Terrorism.

And thus modernizing Pakistan's Armed Forces are also on the cards as well Economic investments, Financial Aid, etc.

So USA will give us big ticket items to be used in conventional warfare.

Since Pakistan rarely complains when India goes on a massive buying spree of Arms, I really hope that half of India won't get a heart attack if US agrees to sell us Artillery, IFV, Fighters, etc.

Got a better idea, why doesn't the US do, what it should have done in 2001, sit down with Nato commanders and Pakistani Generals, have a STRATEGY to win this bloody ugly war.

Not do their Nato thing in Afghanistan, while PA does its thing in Pakistan and assume the cows will come home in the evening........Maybe then, the US can pull out and we can sort our technology stuff out ourselves when the economy starts to recover, inshallah

I think we have enough of the US radars, and as for SAM, we should go towards the Chinese way. Their SAMs are getting better and better day by day.

The Medium range SAMs should be western and long range Chinese.

Javelen ATGM has proved to be a potent weapon in close quater engagments during ops in Afghanistan.

i think it could be a potent weapon for PA to combat terror more effectively while avoiding collateral damage and hitting well defended hideouts in civilian areas.

It also would be helpfull in taking out Terrorist hideouts and compounds in mountainous terrain.

What do you guys Think ?

Javelin is way expensive, for such COIN operations, we need something low cost and effective. RPGs can be supplemented with MGL type of grenade launchers, hand held and vehicle mounted and we can easily make such weapon system in house.

Yes, Javelin can be used in the ATGM role against the IA armor if gotten.

But i would wait to let the Turkish variant come online and see what it has to offer. They would be cheap and hopefully technology can be provided also.
