WASHINGTON: The United States (US) State Department in a statement has expressed concerns over alleged participation of Lashkar-e-Taiba-affiliated (LET) persons in the upcoming general elections in Pakistan and has apprised Islamabad of its reservations as well, reported a local media link outlet.

The statement to Islamabad notes that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had rejected the Milli Muslim League’s attempt to get itself registered as a political party.

The statement also read, “We have repeatedly expressed our concerns to the Pakistani government about LET, including the participation of LET-affiliated individuals in the elections.”

US State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said that the attacks on candidates for the upcoming polls and their supporters were “cowardly attempts to deprive the Pakistani people of their democratic rights”.

BBC interview, then Economist, then FT and now USA (the mother of them all).

Loving the screaming ....

Every single foreign a**hole is trying to interfere in Pakistan's elections
Yes, I noticed the whole lot are singing the same tune. It's like they are choir being conducted by a invisible hand. I read a Guardian article - they were slightly more positive but even they sang the same undertone. I am surprised about this. IK has lot of cache in the west but despite they are still pouring out negativity.

Why are you surprised? What else can you expect from them...?

IK was never desired by the international establishment.

Another news or rumour that's been around is USA demanding Pakistani establishment to not support IK, and the answer given was that 'if IK can win the elections on his effort, we will not be a hindrance'.

Now International Establishment has no choice but to use their media to openly attack IK and PA.

The 3 A's of Pakistan. One A(merica) is being replaced another A(wam)

maybe, maybe not.

Everyone understands the consequences if IK wins the elections.

The Western world has for a long time relied on corrupt Pakistani politicians to maneuver and get their way. The Western world has also played this game with military regimes in Pakistan. The corrupt Pakistani politicians have relied on Western support to remain in power. This relationship seizes to exist once a non-corrupt leader like IK gets elected.

There are many reasons why the Western media is obsessed with Pakistani elections, but there is a lot at stake for particularly the US. The US media is in a frenzy. The conspiracy theories regarding the establishment engineering elections is an admission by the West that change is forthcoming in Pakistan. The propaganda is unlikely to have any effect.
