US drone strikes regrettable, must stop: COAS

All right but if you hear Ahmed Rashid, Hussain Haqqani and other writers all you get is that ISI has actually done more harm than good to Pakistan.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Midnight_Jackal

Seems to paint a different picture of Major Amir.

The amount of enemies that Pakistan has , ISI has had more victories than losses . It is strategically very competent ,deceptive and ruthless and that is its main strength . If you can make the Indians paranoid about pigeons and camels than that's a landslide victory :D .

Major Amir is a controversial figure . regarding midnight jackel he did come on the programme and tried to clarify it . But I was showing his statements as to what ISI achieved in Afghanistan .

.
These generals treat the people of Pakistan as if they have goat brains.

The drone strikes happen in Pakistan because the entire military leadership is in the pocket of USA and hungry for those dollars. If you think they are regrettable, shoot one down and they'll run away. For how many more years are you going to issue the same copy and pasted regrettable announcement after every drone strike.

Afghan Talis are threat to Afghan and American interests, while the Afghans are too weak to go after them, the US is too strong for Pakistan to shoot down their drones. Housing Talis who kill Afghans daily brings hatred from Afghans but it brings drones from the US.

I think Pakistani establishment has two options, failing to follow any of these will render the statements of COAS hollow like civilian politicians.

- Shoot down American drones, shoot any other US planes and personal that cross border into Pakistan and mark US as a hostile nation.

or

- Change policies vis-a-vis Afghan Talis and other groups, kick them out of Pakistan and stop assisting them. It will put an end to the problems with the US, Afghanistan etc.

I think both the Pakistani public and the international community is too smart to fall for this game of playing both sides, because at the end of it brings one embarrassing episode after another to Pakistan. OBL, Mullah Omar, Mullah Mansoor etc.

We also have a third option where we tell both US and Afghans to screw yourself and dont give a damn. Untill Afghans are working in collusion with Indians and TTP there can be no back foot policy from Pakistan.

.
US is not in the position to justify the legitimacy of its unilateral attacks inside Pakistan because they constitute as breach of sovereignty of a nation (not officially hostile to the US) according to UN charter.

UN is the correct forum to raise this issue in, this move will demonstrate that Pakistan is really serious about violations of its sovereignty time and again. We can seek China's endorsement in this regard as well.
Now, of-course, there is a possibility that we loose US as a market as a consequence of the above.
there are chances that if we take the case to UN , US may move the house and label pak as terrorist state. there are so many countries that will support such a move. UN is just an umbrella through which they invade the countries they want to.

this is one of the reason i have lost interest in the watching 23 march parade.every hear we hear the statement" hum dushman ki her jahriat ka mun tor jawab danay kay liay tayyar hain" .

:)

Here is a 4th option, how about you growing up a bit and learning how to respond to others who disagree with you ;)

/Peace

A similar argument can be made that taking a hostile approach against Pakistan, NDS has done more harm than good to entire afghanistan.

In historical context Afghanistan should have played a more conciliatory role towards Pakistan because of its location and size.

In current context NDS has no option but to do whatever it can to blunt Pakistani backed proxies. I don't think it wants hostility with Pakistan because Pakistan can hurt us more than Afghanistan can but the war is imposed on it and thus anyone who is back is behind the wall will fight back.

From the chatter that I am hearing from former and some current US security officials, it seems that the US has decided that its time to squeeze the Pakistani state further.

Mullah Mansoor attack was in line with that episode. The F 16 drama was another one and of course pressurizing IMF etc which helps Pakistan.

There is nothing new. USA did it in past and now repeating the old picture.
After withdrawing its forces, leaving its allies alone and putting reverse pressure on Pakistan.

Secondly, certain elements do not want peace in the region to create a solid reason to stay in the area for longer time.
They are playing and using various regional countries against each other to fulfill their own objective.

Let see how intelligent are regional countries in this game.
By the way who is the Looser?

A: Pakistan
B: Afghanistan
C: India
D: Iran?
E: All of Them

My answer is E.

That is why I always advocate pan regional peace and development, other powers will leave sooner or later but we are here to stay with each and like any other adults we should learn to live with each other.

afghanistan has always been a trouble for pakistan . NDS is just towing the line given to them by the indians. the best option for the pakistan is to fence the border and kick all the afghans to afghanistan and their beloved india. As NDS agents have been caught doing terrorist activities inside pakistan and admitting their crimes they should be hanged in public. pakistan should follow a zero afghan policy on her soil. not a grain of wheat should be exported to afghanistan.

Let me tell you a little something about the UN.

We are the UN:partay:.

How could it be hard? We've got a cadre of lackeys jumping to follow us. Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, we followed you into Libya, but you'll be right behind us the next time around. Just as you always are.

Ah, the UK. Such a good pet.
just remember who gave you independance

If situation is getting out of hand, Pakistan should consider raising this issue in the UN.
Its useless. Pakistan should either gives a strong warning that next time drone will be shot down. Believe me, even warning is enough.
But unfortunately our army and gov. Are toothless tigers before uncle Sam.

NATO is at war against Pakistan: 4th generation. It is an indirect war but war nonetheless. NATO will never leave willingly; she has a mission to achieve.
Doesn't matter whether NATO leaves Afghanistan or not.
Instead of crying like babies our military should show some spine or stop doing dramay baziyan.

Yes I agree. A response needs to be made.
