US Drone strikes in Pakistan are illegal under international law.

There is a Hindi proverb "bahti Ganga me haath dho lena". I wish India could have predator kind of drones, We too could have done some target practice from our Tazik airbase...

2-3 missile weekly on terror camps.. :P

drone strikes have been proved to be most successful tool against hidden insurgents , cant Indian forces use it against naxals in our red corridor in place of our paramilitary forces who are getting killed like sitting ducks by these naxal nerds??:meeting:

I think using drones against naxals will be big mistake because drones cause collateral damages.

Also, killing our own citizens by drones is worst thing for india.

these news of drone strikes has made the internet slow,,please do nt post them,,net use nahi hotha,,sara net bhari kia hay,,
a complaint of low bandwidth and slow net that too from Canada.. that's kinda big news:eek:

Two drone strikes kill 17 in North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH / PESHAWAR: Twelve people were killed in the second drone strike within 12 hours in North Waziristan on Thursday, security officials said.

Officials said that a car was targeted in Khaisoor area of the agency’s Mir Ali town. The attack came hours after a US drone strike targeting a militant compound killed five insurgents in the agency, security officials said.

“Two missiles were fired by a US drone on a compound used by militants in Spalga town near Miranshah and five militants have been killed,” a security official said. The attack was confirmed by two other security officials in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan region, known as a stronghold of Taliban and al Qaeda linked militants.

Security officials said several other militants were wounded but the exact number was not immediately known. The latest attack came a week after US missiles killed Badar Mansoor, the most senior Pakistani in al Qaeda, one of America’s main targets in the country and wanted for attacks that killed scores of people.

Pakistani officials and a member of his group told AFP that Mansoor who reputedly sent fighters to Afghanistan and ran a training camp in North Waziristan, was killed in a drone strike near the Afghan border.US officials say Pakistan’s tribal belt provides sanctuary to Taliban fighting in Afghanistan, al Qaeda groups plotting attacks on the West, Pakistani Taliban who routinely bomb Pakistan and other foreign fighters.

But the missile attacks fuel widespread anti-American resentment, which is running especially high in Pakistan since US air strikes inadvertently killed 24 Pakistani soldiers in November.

President Barack Obama last month confirmed for the first time that US drones have targeted Taliban and al Qaeda militants on Pakistani soil, a programme that has escalated under his administration.

US Predators kill 19 'militants' in 2 North Waziristan strikes

By BILL ROGGIO, February 16, 2012

Unmanned US Predator or Reaper strike aircraft killed 19 "militants," including foreign fighters, in a pair of strikes in the Miramshah and Mir Ali areas of Pakistan's Taliban-controlled tribal agency of North Waziristan today. The strikes broke a one-week-long lull in US attacks in the tribal areas.

In the first strike, the CIA-operated drones fired a pair of missiles at a compound used by "militants" in the village of Spalga near Miramshah, according to AFP. SAMAA reported that seven people were killed and seven more were wounded in the strike. The exact target of that strike has not been disclosed, and the identity of those killed is not known.

In the second strike, the drones fired missiles at a pickup truck that was traveling near the town of Mir Ali. A Pakistani intelligence official told AFP that 12 Uzbek fighters, likely from the al Qaeda-linked Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, were killed.

Senior terrorists are known to have sheltered in the village of Spalga in the past. The US has struck at targets in the village four other times since the end of 2009, according to data on the strikes that has been compiled by The Long War Journal.

Saleh al Somali, al Qaeda's operations chief, was killed in a US drone strike in Spalga on Dec. 9, 2009. Al Somali was a longtime al Qaeda operative who was present in Mogadishu during the infamous Black Hawk Down incident that resulted in the deaths of 19 US troops and hundreds of Somalis during an operation to detain a warlord in the capital in the fall of 1993.

US officials told The Long War Journal on Dec. 12, 2011 that the program had been put "on hold" due to tensions over the Mohmand incident, but that the drones would strike again if a high value terrorist target that could not be ignored was spotted.

The Jan. 11 strike killed Aslam Awan, a deputy to the leader of al Qaeda's external operations network. Awan was a Pakistani citizen from Abbottabad, the same town where Osama bin Laden was killed by US forces in a cross-border raid in May 2011. Awan is the most senior al Qaeda leader killed in a drone strike since mid-October, when Abu Miqdad al Masri, a member of al Qaeda's Shura Majlis who also was involved in al Qaeda's external operations, was killed.

How things would change if these innocents had the ability to shoot down these drones.......since our military is clearly incapable of defending our airspace.

Well, just like people from that area are now attacking Pakistani ground forces, if they had the ability to shoot down the drones, PAF would eventually become their target..

Like any of us, they have the right to defend their homes, families etc., it's most unfortunate that just about anybody is declared a terrorist after he/she becomes a target of drone strikes.

Would have been much better if Pakistan Military did the clean up instead of taking the easy way out and allowing American forces to do the killing. Hundreds of civilians would have been saved..

The attitude of our military seems to be "Who cares"......I wonder if they would have the same attitude if their family members are targeted in a drone strike.
