US Drone strikes in Pakistan are illegal under international law.

At least the US can deliver retribution to the TTP and the Al=Qaida combine - something the Fauj is not able to do.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi accepts and seems to be responsible for the recent 2 suicide attacks on the Shia processions and a few days later they get their arses attacked.

Seems Pak-US working together and scratching each others backs. Good going.

And Sir, who is providing the intel to the US for delivering this retribution ?? We are well aware of the CIA human intel capacity.

And how much are we sure that all of the air strikes are by just US ??

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan, Sept 14, 2010 (AFP) - A salvo of missiles fired by US drones killed 11 militants in Pakistan's tribal badlands on Tuesday, the 10th strike targeting the lawless Afghan border area in 11 days, officials said.

The Pakistani officials said four missiles hit a militant compound in Bushnarai village in Shawal district of North Waziristan, where Al-Qaeda-linked and Taliban fighters have carved out strongholds beyond government control.

A fresh surge in US missile strikes has killed more than 60 militants since September 3 in Pakistan's northwestern tribal belt, which Washington has branded a global headquarters of Al-Qaeda and the most dangerous spot on Earth.

"Eleven militants were killed in today's drone attack," a senior Pakistani security official in the area told AFP on condition of anonymity, updating an initial death toll of seven.

He described the area as a stronghold of Arab militants and said there were reports that foreigners -- a byword for Al-Qaeda operatives in Pakistan -- were among the dead but said the nationalities of the dead were not yet confirmed.

Another security official confirmed that the remains of 11 people had been pulled out of the wreckage of the compound.

"US drones are still carrying out low-level flights in different areas of North Waziristan, including Shawal where the strike took place this morning," the second security official told AFP.

Shawal district is more than 300 kilometres (190 miles) from Pakistan's capital Islamabad, headquarters of the country's civilian government.

The area is a stronghold of Pakistani Taliban warlord Hafiz Gul Bahadur and is also populated by Arab fighters.

US missiles have killed 60 militants in North Waziristan since September 3.

Two Drone Strikes Kill 15 Militants

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan, Sept 14, 2010 (AFP) - Missiles fired by US drones in two attacks Tuesday killed 15 militants in Pakistan's tribal badlands, with 11 strikes targeting the lawless Afghan border area in 11 days, officials said.

In the first attack, officials said, four missiles hit a compound in Bushnarai village in Shawal district of North Waziristan, where Al-Qaeda-linked and Taliban fighters have carved out strongholds beyond government control.

"Eleven militants were killed in today's drone attack," a senior Pakistani security official in the area told AFP on condition of anonymity, updating an earlier toll for the first attack.

He described the area as a stronghold of Arab militants and said there were reports that "foreigners" -- a term for Al-Qaeda operatives in Pakistan -- were among the dead but said the nationalities of the dead had not been confirmed.

Another security official confirmed that the remains of 11 people had been pulled out of the compound's wreckage.

US drones carried out low-level flights in different areas of North Waziristan, including Shawal where the first strike took place this morning, the second security official told AFP.

Shawal district is more than 300 kilometres (190 miles) from Pakistan's capital Islamabad, headquarters of the country's civilian government.

The area is a stronghold of Pakistani Taliban warlord Hafiz Gul Bahadur and is populated by Arab fighters.

The second drone attack took place in Qutabkhel village in the outskirts of Miranshah on Tuesday evening, killing four militants, officials said, bringing the day's toll to 15.

"A US drone fired two missiles on a vehicle carrying militants outside Miranshah," a senior security official told AFP.

"At least four militants were killed in the attack," the official said, adding that the identities of the militants were not immediately known.

A fresh surge in US missile strikes has killed 64 militants since September 3 in Pakistan's northwestern tribal belt.

US drone strike kills five militants in Pakistan

By Hasbanullah Khan (AFP) – 2 hours ago

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan — US drones fired off a volley of missiles targeting Al-Qaeda linked fighters in a tribal area of northwest Pakistan Wednesday, killing at least five militants, security officials said.

The pre-dawn attack -- the third in less than 24 hours -- was directed at the Haqqani network, a Pakistan-based group which is one of the toughest foes for foreign forces in neighbouring Afghanistan.

"Several US drones fired seven missiles at two militant compounds early this morning, killing at least five militants," a senior security official told AFP. "The missile strike targeted militants of the Haqqani network."

The attack took place in the village of Dargah Mandi village on the outskirts of Miranshah, the main town in the troubled North Waziristan tribal district where US missiles killed 15 militants in two separate attacks Tuesday.

Another security official in Peshawar and a local intelligence official confirmed Wednesday's strike and the death toll.

Residents said there was panic in the village as the noise of drones was heard just before dawn.

"As the US drones came over the village people started shouting and running here and there shouting 'run, drones have come,' a local tribesman told AFP, requesting anonymity for fear militants might harm him.

Created by Afghan warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani and run by his son Sirajuddin, the network is linked to Al-Qaeda and the Taliban and has become a particularly prickly thorn in the side of US-led forces trying to bring security to eastern Afghanistan.

A fresh surge in US missile strikes has killed 69 militants since September 3 in Pakistan's northwestern tribal belt, which Washington has branded a global headquarters of Al-Qaeda and the most dangerous spot on Earth.

On Tuesday, 11 militants were killed in a drone attack on the village of Bushnarai in Shawal district, a known stronghold of Taliban warlord Hafiz Gul Bahadur which is populated by Arab fighters.

Another four militants were killed that day in Qutabkhel village south of Miranshah when US drones fired missiles on militant vehicles, officials said.

With Pakistan struggling to cope with devastating floods that have hit 21 million people in the country's worst humanitarian disaster, Islamist militant violence has picked up in recent weeks with a wave of major bombings.

The Taliban last week threatened Pakistani security forces with more suicide attacks to avenge US missile strikes, which have become a key tactic in the US-led fight to reverse the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.

An Islamist militant bombing campaign has killed more than 3,700 people and fanned instability across nuclear-armed Pakistan since July 2007.

Drone Strike Kills Haqqani's Cousin in Pakistan

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan, Sept 15, 2010 (AFP) - An Afghan Taliban commander and close relative of Afghan warlord Sirajuddin Haqqani was among those killed in a recent US missile strike, Pakistani security officials said Wednesday.

A US drone fired two missiles into a vehicle in Qutabkhel village in North Waziristan tribal district on Tuesday, killing four militants.

"Afghan Taliban commander Saifullah travelled to the region from Afghanistan three days ago and was killed in yesterday's US missile strike," a senior security official in the area told AFP.

The information was based on intelligence intercepts, the official said.

He described Saifullah as the first cousin of Sirajuddin Haqqani, who runs the Haqqani network created by his father, Afghan warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani.

The network is based in North Waziristan, a known hub of Taliban and Al-Qaeda linked militants just across the border from Afghanistan.

The group is blamed for fuelling the nine-year insurgency in Afghanistan; attacking US-led NATO troops and working to destabilise the Western-backed government of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Another Pakistani security official confirmed Saifullah's death.

A sharp increase in US drone attacks targeting militants in North Waziristan has killed 80 suspected fighters since September 3.

Drone Strikes are the best way to do it. And it's taking the toll on these elements. They are precise and collateral damage is almost minimal. Who do you think gives the intel on the location of these people? Have you seen reports of spies being shot and beheaded by Taliban? Who doy uo think these spies are?

Ever heard of a protest against drone strikes in the agencies?

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan, Sept 15, 2010 (AFP) - Two separate US missile strikes targeting Al-Qaeda-linked fighters in Pakistan's northwest tribal belt on Wednesday killed 15 militants, local security officials said.

A pre-dawn attack was directed at the Haqqani network, officials said, a Pakistan-based group with links to both Al-Qaeda and the Taliban and one of the toughest foes for foreign forces in the war in neighbouring Afghanistan.

This month alone, a surge in US missile strikes has now killed 83 militants in the lawless tribal belt on the Afghan border.

"Several US drones fired eight missiles at two militant compounds early this morning, killing at least 12 militants," a senior security official told AFP of the first attack.

"The missile strike targeted militants of the Haqqani network."

The barrage hit the village of Dargah Mandi on the outskirts of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal district where US missiles also killed 15 militants in two separate attacks Tuesday.

Residents said the targeted houses had been rented out to militants by a local tribesman and were destroyed in the attacks, which caused panic in the village.

"As the US drones came over the village people started shouting and running here and there shouting 'run, drones have come,'" one local tribesman told AFP, requesting anonymity for fear militants might harm him.

The intelligence official put the number of missiles fired as 10, saying several drones came from all directions, while another said three miliants were also wounded in the strike.

The second attack later Wednesday targeted a militant compound in Payekhel village of Datta Khel district of North Waziristan, killing three rebels, local security officials said.

"We don't know yet the nationalities of the militants killed in the second strike," a senior security official in the area told AFP.

On Tuesday, 11 militants were killed in an attack by the unmanned bombers on the village of Bushnarai in Shawal district, a known stronghold of Taliban warlord Hafiz Gul Bahadur that is populated by Arab fighters.

ETIP leader killed in February Predator strike

By Bill RoggioSeptember 17, 2010

Abdul Haq al Turkistani, a member of al Qaeda's Shura Majlis and the leader of the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Party, a terror group that seeks to establish an Islamic emirate in western China and Central Asia, was killed in a US airstrike in Pakistan in February, US intelligence officials told The Long War Journal.

Turkistani was killed in the Feb. 14, 2010 strike on a compound in the village of Zor Babar Aidak near Mir Ali in North Waziristan, officials said. US Predators fired two missiles at the compound, which was being used as a secret training camp. Five terrorists, including Turkistani were reported killed in the strike.

The town of Mir Ali is a known stronghold of al Qaeda leader Abu Kasha al Iraqi, an Iraqi national who is also known as Abu Akash. He has close links to the Taliban and the Haqqani Network. The Haqqani Network and Hafiz Gul Bahadar also have influence in the Mir Ali region.

The Eastern Turkistan Islamic Party is known to operate in in the Mir Ali region along with the Islamic Jihad Group, an offshoot of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.

The Pakistani government first claimed Turkistani was killed in May, when Interior Minister Rehman Malik made an announcement during a conference in Beijing, China. At the time, Malik claimed that the terror group's "back is broken" and that the group is no longer viable inside Pakistan.

But the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Party is still known to operate in North Waziristan. A "group of hundreds of militants" from the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Party are said to be in the region, US intelligence officials told The Christian Science Monitor.

The Eastern Turkistan Islamic Party has not officially announced Turkistani's death, but Abdul Shakoor is said to have taken control of the terror group.

Turkistani is one of the top two terror leaders killed in a Predator strike this year. Mustafa Abu Yazid, formerly al Qaeda's leader in Afghanistan and its top financial official, was killed in a Predator strike in Datta Khel in North Waziristan on May 21, 2010.
