Al Qaeda operatives killed in North Waziristan strike

By Bill Roggio, LWJ, Jun 17, 2010

The US killed two al Qaeda commanders and a Turkish foreign fighter during a Predator airstrike in North Waziristan earlier this month, a jihadist group stated.

Sheikh Ihsanullah, an "Arab al Qaeda military commander"; Ibrahim, the commander of the Fursan-i-Mohammed Group; and a Turkish foreign fighter known as Harun were killed in the June 10 airstrike in the village of Norak in North Waziristan.

The deaths were confirmed in a statement released by the Taifatul Mansura Group, or the Victorious Sect, a transnational Turkish jihadist group that operates along the Afghan-Pakistani border.

The Taifatul Mansura Group has previously issued multiple statements from Pakistan's tribal areas. Recently, the terror group announced the death of Eric Breininger, a German member of the Islamic Jihad Union who was killed while fighting Pakistani security forces during a clash near Mir Ali in North Waziristan on April 30, 2010.

The Taifatul Mansura Group confirmed the deaths of the three terrorists in a statement released on June 11 that was signed by Abu Yasir al Turki, the "Media Spokesman" and "Commander of Media Wing." The statement was translated by Flashpoint Partners.

"Late last night, a spy drone attacked a target in Waziristan," Turki said. "Commander Ibrahim, who was staying inside a house, together with one Turkish mujahid and an al Qaeda military commander, Sheikh Ihsanullah, were killed. For security reasons, we are not able to publish the location and details. Pardon us…"

Three terrorists were reported to have been killed in the June 10 airstrike in Norak. The US hit a compound that was known to have been used by the Taliban.

The town of Norak is in the sphere of influence of the Haqqani Network.

^^^ Every time we hear about some militants being killed but they never get OBL!!!!

Just seen press conference of Holbrooke and Qureshi, they didn't directly answer a single question from the journalists! Some of them was about India and Afghanistan.

Do you think he (OBL) is still alive? If so, I think he is either in a "non-drone strike" place, like Karachi or Islamabad. Or, he is in Iran.

Also, Zawahiri and Mullah Omar escapes every time....

It is highly likely that OBL, Zawahiri and Omar are each being protected by either Pakistan or Iran.

Richard Holbrooke (Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan under the Obama administration) just mentioned few hours earlier in a joint press conference with Pakistani FM Qureshi that OBL is hiding somewhere in Afghanistan-Pakistan border. :pop:

^ They actually have no idea, and it's their best hunch/intuition that he is in Afghanistan-Pakistan border area.

They seek him here, they seek him there
Those Frenchies seek him everywhere
Is he in heaven or is he in hell?
That demned elusive Pimpernel... Quite apt don't you think?

I'm not sure???? From Wikipedia:

The "League of the Scarlet Pimpernel", a secret society of 20 English aristocrats, "one to command, and nineteen to obey", is engaged in rescuing their French counterparts from the daily executions. Their leader, the mysterious Scarlet Pimpernel, takes his nickname from the drawing of a small red flower with which he signs his messages. Despite being the talk of London society, only his followers and possibly the Prince of Wales know the Pimpernel's true identity. Like many others, Marguerite is entranced by the Pimpernel's daring exploits.

We seek him here, we seek him there,
Those Frenchies seek him everywhere.
Is he in heaven?—Is he in hell?
That demmed, elusive Pimpernel.
Sir Percy Blakeney (ch.12)

At a ball attended by the Blakeneys, Percy's verse about the "elusive Pimpernel" makes the rounds and amuses the other guests. Meanwhile, Marguerite is blackmailed by the wily new French envoy to England, Citizen Chauvelin. Chauvelin's agents have stolen a letter incriminating her beloved brother Armand, proving that he is in league with the Pimpernel. Chauvelin offers to trade Armand's life for her help against the Pimpernel. Contemptuous of her seemingly witless and unloving husband, Marguerite does not go to him for help or advice. Instead, she passes along information which enables Chauvelin to learn the Pimpernel's true identity.

Later that night, Marguerite finally tells her husband of the terrible danger threatening her brother and pleads for his assistance. Percy promises to save him. After Percy unexpectedly leaves for France, Marguerite discovers to her horror that he is the Pimpernel. He had hidden behind the persona of a dull, slow-witted fop in order to deceive the world. He had not told Marguerite because of his worry that she might betray him, as she had the Marquis de St. Cyr. Desperate to save her husband, she pursues Percy to France to warn him that Chauvelin knows his identity and his purpose.

Percy openly approaches Chauvelin in a decrepit inn, but despite Chauvelin's best efforts, the Englishman manages to escape. Through a bold plan executed right under Chauvelin's nose, Percy rescues Marguerite's brother Armand and the Comte de Tournay, the father of a schoolfriend of Marguerite's. Marguerite pursues Percy right to the very end, resolute that she must either warn him or share his fate.

With Marguerite's love and courage amply proven, Percy's ardour is rekindled. Safely back on board their schooner, the Day Dream, the happily reconciled couple returns to England.

Is OBL = the Scarlet Pimpernel?? Methinks not. :disagree:
