What's new

US DOD has approved a FMS for Pakistani F16s for Sniper pods & LANTIRN navigation pod

.
It's great that we have f-16 but kindly use drones or jets to monitor balochistan. It's useless to have these weapons when you can't save your troops on the ground.

.
PEANUTS...... shame on US for falling for the F16 every time....... Generals must be happy for all the kivkbacks and retirement in Us. On the other hand soldiers are dying in balochistan!!!!!!!

. .
The work is expected to be completed by May 2025.

Since this is a generalized statement for all the mentioned recipients, i believe this is the delivery timeline for completion of order. PAF may get much earlier than 2025 :)

If u don't mind , what was contract that was approved last year before or after IK visit to USA July 2019 ??? Thanks .

Pakistan – Technical Security Team (TST) in Continued Support of the F-16 Program
July 26, 2019 - The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Pakistan for Technical Security Team (TST) in continued support of the F-16 program for an estimated cost of $125 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on July 26, 2019.

The Government of Pakistan requested a continuation of technical support services; U.S. Government and contractor technical and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics support to assist in the oversight of operations in support of the Pakistan Peace Drive advanced F-16 program. The total estimated program cost is $125 million.

This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by protecting U.S. technology through the continued presence of U.S. personnel that provide 24/7 end-use monitoring.

The proposed sale of this support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The principal contractor is Booz Allen Hamilton Engineering Services LLC, Fairborn, Ohio.

Implementation of this proposed sale will require the assignment of 60 contractor representatives to Pakistan to assist in the oversight of operations as part of the Peace Drive F-16 program.

There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

This notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.

All questions regarding this proposed Foreign Military Sale should be directed to the State Department's Bureau of Political Military Affairs, Office of Congressional and Public Affairs, pm-cpa@state.gov.

Well, that was expected after cancellation of the Indian fighter deal. They have to earn money from somewhere...

This is a requirement if you want to operate Vipers. Part of the pkg.

Besides keeping an eye, they also provide assistance on technical matters.

Edit: One of the reasons PAF's Vipers have such a high availability rate.

. . . .
Couple of things

1) Some users need to learn to read, it clearly says this is for hardware not maintanence
2) It clearly shows that when we have money and can spend it US will sell us offensive equipment
3) Seems like PAF have now opted to possibly equip as many aircraft as possible, maybe even whole fleet, with the pods.

As per Flight Global

https://www.flightglobal.com/pakist...niper-targeting-pods-for-f-16s/117625.article

We have 37 pods in service. Cost of each Sniper is around $2 million so the recent contract award will cover around 230-250 pods split by all countries mentioned.
