US court summons ISI chief in Mumbai terror case

The US court will get a middle finger from Pakistan. If they want to impose sanctions, go right ahead!!!!! Our DG-ISI is not sitting around to respond to every Tom, Dick and Harry's gripe or agenda against Pakistan.

I suspect they will try to freeze some assets to pay for damages if the GoP and ISI tell them to buzz off. The goal of the litigation is just that. Get some $ for damages.

I think the $$ values of damages should be the least of your concern here.....

The US public apart from being very active in politics also happens to be extremely pissed off with the economic recession...

To know that their hard earned dollars have been used to support a country whose intelligence organization is involved in terrorism (read killing Americans) while their Govt keeps pumping more money into the same country in the name of "fighting terrorsism" will not go down well....

I think politicizing of this case can make a big difference.....
So please dont sweep it under the carpet just yet.....

The people funding this lawsuit are probably more interested in maligning Pakistan's image, less about seeking justice...

I wouldnt rule out Indian involvement in politicizing this case.....

India benefits most from a public exposure of Headley and his statements which the US govt will be forced to release especially considering that CIA and US Gov are vary of releasing such info in light of maligning or pissing off their WOT ally...

We have been through this before. If they want to deduct damages from assistance to Pakistan, they sure can and maybe they should, but Pakistan will not agree to sending anyone over and will not be a party to this case.

Sending someone over is just hogwash i think. its a civil case after all. I mean BP gets sued 117 times every day and most of those name the CEO as the defendent. Imagin him appearing in all those cases..

When the name of one's country is being maligned the world over by such incidents, FARAK PADTA HAI!

These are the reasons why not many give aid to Pakistan during its worst floods.

These are the things which affect foreign investment in Pakistan.

These are the things because of which Pakistani travellers face harassment or 'random checks' at airports.

These are the things why Pakistan gets its name attached to Afghanistan as in AfPak.

Investment is low because of security situation inside Pakistan or you can say The world knows Pakistan as victim of terrorism.

a. It is a "summons" - which means he is pretty much "summoned" to appear before a court to depose. The next step is a "warrant" if he does not appear. Neither a "summons" nor a "warrant" are applicable in Pakistan because no U.S. court has jurisdiction over Pakistan.

b. To the Pakistanis blaming the US govt. - the US govt. would be the last entity to want to summon the ISI chief because of how fragile the relation is between the two countries.

c. The U.S. courts and judiciary are completely independent of the U.S. Govt. - there is nothing the U.S. Govt. can do about it.

d. You really have to be day dreaming if you think India has any leverage over the American judicial system. I doubt they have much with the U.S. Govt - but that is debatable.

The Pakistani ISI Chief is not going to appear before any U.S. Court - he is not required to do so.

Iam happy there is a reasonable thinking in India, i will be more reasonable to you as well. Look i tell you , we are also against terrorists , no one is with terrorists in Pakistan. All Pakistanis condemn Mumbai attacks. What is the benefit of attacking Mumbai for Pakistan state? nothing , nothing? We are fighting with 100,000 troops against those people in different areas of Pakistan. These people do their activities more in pakistan than India. These are non state actors funded by somebody else who dont want our relatioships to be improved. Like Afzal guru being trialed in the court , it is not possible for us to punish anybody without a court trial . Trial is on in a pakistani court , surely the court will decide accoding to the evidences and law and not sentiments. You are also holding a trial for Ajmal Kasab in your courts , it will take a due course of law in India and Pakstan as well.

Besides that, the State of Israel and the Chabad movement would take care of the kid. I doubt it is for the money - the guys he is suing don't even own an American bank account so there is no way to get payment. He is doing it for accountability and closure.
