US blocks sale of German APCs to Pakistan

Dear Blain2,

Belive you me or not its nothing to be emotional its something which happens every now n then but they dont take the lesson and keep on relying the same so called friend. I believe the standard policy is 3 sticks and then a carrot but in Pakistan's case it loos like more like dozen sticks and a half carrot.hahahahaha

Anyway we dont need these APCs, they must not maon for these meagre things.:cheesy::pakistan:

dear sky,

its better to be in the good books of usa then be its enemy.

Regards

^^ Thanks for sharing the valuable tradition.

How can the Germans let the US order German companies around? Don't they have any self esteem? :tsk:
Still the above question remained unanswered.

I can only relate it to both political and technical reasons.
In recent days, I have noticed a shift in US policy towards Pakistan.
I see it connected to the secret meeting of Zardari with Boucher arranged in UK and than followed by tour of indian FM and the following events.
On technical grounds I can say, that it was a great move by Pakarmy to acquire so many APC’s in short time. It is clear that Pakarmy need those immediately to get the grip over infiltration from Afghanistan.
Such a move is an attempt to thwart any such attempt, this will help the nexus of NATO, US, Afghan and india to keep pushing terrorists across the border and sending arms and technological aid to anti Pakistan elements in Baluchistan and NWFP.
US war on terror is just a big crap.

YOu all keep saying APC but which one is it? Is it the M-113 or some other kind of APC maybe something newer???

It'll be M113s the Germans had nearly 4000 of them in service.

Alot of European operators recently purchased CV90 IFVs as replacements so perhaps Pakistan can look to them as well.

Though this problem of the licence will probably persist :hitwall:

it has been answered - the US holds the rights to Licence production of the M-113 APCs so if it (US) is in a bad mood then it takes such actions to get in a better mood.

My friend Skywalker,

Let me ask you, an eye opener to do what? Let me also ask you as an example, would Pakistan continue to equip Afghans if she felt that there was a threat to Pakistan emanating from Afghanistan? No! we would try to rectify the situation by pushing, prodding and potentially rewarding (carrot and stick policy). The same goes for the Americans in dealing with Pakistan.

Think about these issues from the standpoint of convergence or divergence of interests instead of emotionally.

Its all good saying that blain2 and if we take your example wasn't wrong for America TRYING to sell f18s to India at one point or selling arms to Israel when they tried to bomb Pakistan back 1986 ?
I think what Skywalker is trying to point out is more than just America protecting its border but a sinister way of control worldly affairs in which in my opinion including Pakistan and India have every right to protect itself of such menace.

America is never the Angel that they make it to be.

Sanctions support Pak defence industry. When no sanction, armed forces personal think..its been no sanctions long time. But anyway these APC are kinda rocket science that Pakistan can't make. Just Iron structure, Question is its ballistics.
I personally think US armed role in Pakistan defence is diminishing with passage of time.
