exactly, in economics, it's called "Aid Curse", just as "Resource Curse" in some countries.
Pakistan's annual budget = ~$40 Billion
US Aid (after consultancy fee etc) = ~$1 Billion
That's only 2.5% of our budget with a thousand strings attached.

Agree with your sentiment. In fact during the nineties the last time we had sanctions from America we became more self reliant and the following years we started producing tanks jets etc.

i think this proposal to stop aid is indirect threatening by US so as to make Pak fall in the line
if GOP accepts their demands(secretly) the aid will continue
this is most likely to happen
