Several people were killed in continuous strikes by the US predators in North Waziristan tribal region in recent days.

The overflying spy planes’ have caused harassment in the tribal region.

But on the TV the news said. One Us drone entered Pak airspace today, and a JET was sent after it. They also have shown this on ARY TV, and they also confirmed that this Drone was forced to leave PAK Air space.

DAMN NICE if you ask me..

Bush destabilizes world security: US Congressman
Saturday September 13, 2008 (1154 PST)

WASHINGTON: US Congressman Dennis Kucinich said that Bush`s authorization of US attacks inside of Pakistan further destabilizing world security. Congress must intervene legislatively and legally to block Bush from continuing down this dangerous path, he added.

"The President is once again violating international law by invading yet another nation which has not attacked the United States. Once again, he places our troops and our reputation at risk. Once again, he creates more enemies for America. Pakistan`s objections to the illegal US Predator strikes inside the country`s border should be a clear indication of how Pakistan would respond to another illegal attack upon their sovereign nation.

"Pakistan is a nuclear flash point on the Asian subcontinent. This situation requires intense diplomacy. The United States under George Bush is playing with fire, creating more instability, killing innocent Pakistanis, imperiling our troops in the region and weakening the hold our allies have on their democratic governments. Instead of limiting aggression, Bush expands it.

End.

PAF Should be ordered to shot it down the next time it violates our airspace and the wreckage should be sent back to afganistan with a note attached to it: FROM THE PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN.

The limited resources have always been there against India, against US as well. There is no denying in it but that does not mean that the mother land would be allowed to be abuse by these Yanks. If an air war does break out, we will give them a bloody nose before they netrualize us. As i once said in an another thread, that we wont fly jets in the direction other then the US jets as it happened in case of Iraq where iraqi jets were flying towards iran, our airforce is considered one of the best in the world even though we dont necessarily have the best means but we sure will put up a fight and give them a piece of their mouth.:sniper::usflag:

Good news. With my limited knowledge I may be wrong on this I dont think any drone has the capability to detect the presence of hostile aircraft close by.So how did PAF force a drone back? Its not like manned aircraft where you see enemy and turn back. Or another news for our gullible public?
Possibility is american seeing presence of PAF aircraft on ground radars or AWACS decided to bring the drone back.
The very fact we sent PAF itself is good news though

Once a drone knows it is being targeted or followed by something like a fighter, either it leaves its patrolling zone or self destructs.

Shortchanging the use of reconnaissance drones and placing small platoons of troops out in open brutal terrain has been a mistake from the beginning in regards to Afghanistan. We have the technology. I cannot believe paying out thousands in death benefits offset an investment in drones. Drones in the area of my son's death and many others could have saved life KIA. Would they like to tell Gold Star Family Members the loss of a drone equates the loss of their loved one? Step it up with the technology we have. Beef up our numbers on the ground. Stop retreating from outposts established and gained with American blood, loss of life and sacrifice by our loved ones.

I regret any civilian life lost in Afghanistan during fall out from a bomb or attack. But recall other wars. Civilians were lost then too. It is tragic. We cannot fight this war worrying about terrorists who deliberately hide themselves among the innocent knowing our honor and dedication to "rules of engagement". The people seeking our help are also harboring those killing us. They do it out of fear and intimidation, but also sometimes for their political and personal gain.

The ugly issue of the drug trade is involved here, it's about oil, drugs, power and control between Afghanistan and Pakistan...so much more than what is seen with inital glance.

Let the chips fall where they may. Enough...be it drones, field artillery, bombs, finish this up and protect our troops there so they and their families don't suffer what myself and other Gold Star Families do. Hearing our top command indicate our hold failing in Afghanistan angers me. Then why did our sons and daughters die there? Why are our troops deployed there? When you send our troops in give them all the tools and manpower needed to complete the job.

Remember the Victory Gardens of wars gone by? Sugar, Gas rationing? Bring this self centered America up to speed as to the requirements needed to beat these beasts and wake them up to the fact they'll have to sacrifice something themselves. I am sick of upper command playing toy solider games with the life of those on the front line.

PAF fighter aircraft start flights in tribal region

BANNU (updated on: September 13, 2008, 21:03 PST): Fighter aircraft of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Saturday conducted flights in the tribal region for the first time where US missiles attacks have killed dozens of people in recent days, witnesses in the region said.

At least 12 people were killed in North Waziristan tribal region in a suspected US missile attack on Friday, the second strike in three days in the same region.

US drones frequently fire missiles in the tribal region to hit suspected militants but civilians are also killed in such attacks, according to locals.

Reports say that President Bush recently authorised US raids against militants in Pakistan without prior approval from Islamabad.

There is growing concern in Pakistan over unilateral US military action and the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has condemned the strikes but said Pakistan will pursue diplomatic path to convince the US to stop attacks in Pakistani areas.

Pakistan Air Chief Air Marshal Tanvir Mehmood has said that the air force can respond to violation of air space by the US forces if the government issues orders.

The army spokesman Major General Athar Abass said on Thursday that the army has been issued orders to react in case of violation by Afghanistan-based U.S forces.

A tribal elder in Miranshah, the center of North Waziristan, said on phone that he saw Pakistani fighter planes hovering over North Waziristan. "The people are very happy over action by Pakistani aircraft in view of the frequent air violations by US spy planes," the tribesman said. "I saw the fighter plane also flying towards the Afghan border area," the tribal elder said, requesting not to be identified.

Salute!

I hope people remember these brave folks who have jumped in harms way for our protection!

These actions do move us closer to the Rubicon, in that displaying this aggressive intent (if it is true - knowing the Pak media we should probably wait for ISPR confirmation - though they may decide to deny it or refuse comment anyway ....) we are then expected to ward of US strikes in FATA the majority of the time, by Pakistanis and especially the Tribesmen.

This completely eliminates our 'plausible deniability' with the Tribes - which means:

1. We stop the US and we stop the Taliban in those areas from launching cross border attacks

2. We stop the US but we continue to not act against these groups because they are primarily involved in Afghanistan and we are too preoccupied with fighting the TTP in Swat, Bajaur and elsewhere.

3. We do not stop the US and leave this as a token 'warning', and in the process end up fighting the Taliban anyway since they will not believe that the GoP could not continue to replicate such warnings.

Scenario one would be ideal, were I more aware (and confident) of what resources the PA can deploy in FATA fighting what will become a much larger and more dangerous threat with the TTP uniting with the other Taliban groups who have been 'pro-Govt.' so far.

Scenario 2 will raise tensions with the US, especially with attacks becoming deadlier, and the GoA losing credibility amongst Afghans, and therefore the US's 'local link' becoming unpopular and tenuous.

Trying to get scenario 2 to work will require some very, very tough selling and assurances that Pakistan has a feasible plan to deal with the situation. I am not sure the Bush administration will buy any plan we put up at this point unless it involves carpet bombing FATA, so the tension may well persist till the next administration takes over. This could be alleviated somewhat by taking out legitimate targets (with low collateral damage) from amongst the pro-Govt. Taliban groups, but it would still end up pitting the PA against a possibly united Taliban front earlier than they would like.

Scenario 3 - thats pretty much whats been going on so far, and I would argue that it is perhaps the most damaging for Pakistan in several ways.
