What's new

US Air Force had 3 6th Gen NGAD demonstrators; now down to 2

The F-22 & F-35 are 1980s & 1990s designs. In other words, these jets were designed 44/33 years ago. Today, they remain the most advanced fighter jets in the world. Nothing even comes remotely close.

One can imagine what sort of advanced fighter jets the US can produce in 2023. Frankly speaking, China & Russia are at least 50-years behind the US in aviation technology.

Any indication one of these NGAD designs are based on the “Bird of Prey” design?

With a lot of the threat either from radar below or head on, having the intake behind the cockpit may create reduced signatures

Can you please enlighten us on the science behind this?

US is the biggest espionage country(period) Read some history before you say more to make yourself looks like a fool. Remove the 'If indeed' from your sentence. Then think about what you're trying argue. 'Trying to assess..' Really? Look yourself in the mirror. You're good, really good. You could tell a lie to make yourself feel good. BTW, when you went to school, you repeatedly failed to solve a math problem then stole your A+ classmate's work 'just to assess how good' he was' and had no intention copying and stealing his work. That's some shameless lie you're spitting out. But you could do it -- without red faced or blinking. I guess you're just natural.

And you're not the only shameless person on this forum. Not the least. @Bengal71 gave you the applause for your argument. I could safely label him 'shameless' as well.

If you want to believe China is anywhere close to the US in terms of military technology, then you are free to live in your delusion. I am not interested in trying to change your mind.

Actually, I'm not interested in changing your delusion: China is 50 years behind the US in fighter jet technologies.
Mark your words. Obviously the active-duty US military don't agree with your what-1940's assessment. You stole your classmate's homework to copy and paste on yours just to see if your classmate got the homework done right. Really LOL.

Okay, first nations steal each other's tech all the time.

During the cold war the USA and USSR constantly stole tech from each other and made their own versions.

Second, China is certainly behind the US in terms if tech, but 50 is faaaar too behind. No one is really sure what the gap is, but we do know that China has its own 6th gen program which it would have to develop using its own technology as it has nothing to take reference from, and is working a number of NG programs regarding sea, air and land forces.

In the end putting an arbitrary number is pointless. Even if China is 100 years behind, it is the only power capable of threatening US global hegemony and Pax Americana, so the US HAS to take China seriously.

If China wasn't a problem for the US, you wouldn't even be having this conversation.

My responses were aimed at certain individuals' distorted logic, lies, exaggeration, and foolish tauntings. They're the cause of US going down the drain.

Calm down, America isn't going down the drain (at least it wasn't until Tuberville decided to **** over the military for political gains).

America is more advanced than it has ever been, it doesn't need your defending online.

... and the US hackers stole over 200GB of data and blueprints from China's Northwest Industrial University that designs or participates in designs of China's advanced aerial vehicles. These aerial vehicles include hypersonic missiles that the US has repeatedly failed to test. LOL.. Did you ever wonder if the number US airmen signing extension contracts dropped significantly (even after US military offered $50k signing bonus) had to do with the intensifying air rattles with China at a time China not communicating to US military officials?

Worry not, mate. China's Mig-17 will not shoot down your F-35 --- Frankly Speaking.
After the Cold War ended, former Soviet republics called US and asked if we want to go shopping, so we said: America F-Yeah...!!!

We sent blacked out C-5s and they returned with Soviet tanks and even missile control consoles. Does that mean we were 'behind' the Soviets and had to 'copy' their sh!t?

In a way, YES! The Soviets were up in some techs, though the US leads more. It'd be foolish to believe what you believed.

Thank you for pointing out Falcon is a small chihuahua. Ha.. 50 years up in the chihuahua's behind.

I'm going to leave this to that note ☝️.

Such as? Did you performed even basic research before you commented? Seems like not.

Indeed, the US and Germany use to steal, reverse engineer and develop their own facsimiles in the late 19th century.

The economies of scale and R&D funding as well as talent will determine who will Push to the frontier of any technology.

In this field, the US still have more than a decade advantage. The next 20 years will be interesting, the technological competition maybe akin to the 60s-80s; generational advancements in technology in a matter of a few years.

Funnily enough, during the time the Russians were thought to be a head in a few fields such as space and fighter tech.

The Mig-25 scared the US enough for them to develop the F-15.

Turned out that Russian superiority was mostly just smoke and mirror and the US gained a decisive edge over the rest of the world (including Russia) for nothing. LMAO

Don't know much about the Soviet space program though, but they did manage to make a number of achievements before the US, so there's probably some truth to the USSR having a space program that was either on par or slightly ahead of the USA.

Wrong.

The F-15 and MIG-25 came from the ------------------------------- A-5 Vigilante.

The A-5 originally was designed to have twin vertical stabs but the US Navy chiefs thought that was too 'advanced' so North American refitted the jet with a single larger vertical stab that folded to clear carrier hangars. It is now believed that the Soviets somehow got their mitts on the A-5 technical plans to develop the MIG-25.

Uh, you may wanna run that back. I'm not talking about the origin of the technology here, I'm talking about the circumstances of their development.

The F-15 was developed as a response to the Mig-25, this is a fact of history.

So the only thing you have is this sentence...

It is interesting to see how the F-15 (and indeed all fighters of that time period) were influenced by the MiG-25.

What does 'influence' mean? Basically, it mean anything the reader want it to be. If the reader is captured by physical similarities, then he will ASSUME that the F-15's physical structure was relatively copied from the MIG-25. If the reader is a more critical sort, the word 'influence' is meaningless.

The MIG-25 was developed in response to the XB-70 as your source stated...

It had to be able to reach the speed and altitude of American B-70 bombers,...

If you want to remain with physical similarities, then you cannot ignore the A-5 Vigilante because the physical similarities between the A-5 and the MIG-25 is essentially overwhelming. Do you want to use the word 'influenced' here? Why not the F-15 was 'influenced' by the A-5? But of course, to suck up to Russia, it had to be the MIG-25.

When I was active duty, our squadron had a chance to attend a technical presentation of the MIG-25 that started from when Viktor Belenko defected to the West with his MIG-25. To put it bluntly, the MIG-25 was, and still is, crap. To start, there is nothing wrong with being a niche platform. The SR-71 is a niche platform. The MIG-25 was designed to try to go after the XB-70 and possibly the SR-71. Whereas, the history of the F-15 contained the F-4, F-111, A-7, and several others, basically, the question was: What the previous jets cannot do, can the F-X program do it? And if you look at the history of those other fighters, most of them are multi-role to varying degrees in employment. The F-15 was intended to be better than all of them.

You can strain the context of the word 'response' to give some needed credits to Russia, but not to me. The MIG-25 was crap, and STILL is crap.
