I felt like starting the thread on Indian claim of surgical strike and its impact on building morale of Pak army ...I would say Indian claim of surgical strike was the biggest strategic blunder of the decades.

Read my post again but with glasses this time. I said that we have no need to infiltrate across loc since there already are millions of rebels in iok. Now Pakistan doesn't need a fence as we have full confidence in our troops that they can mow down all indian army attempts to infiltrate across loc into our side. We just saw an example of this recently. So I guess india doesn't have any confidence in its troops, hence the fence. Regardless, that's between you and your inept army, not my problem.

Fence is effective, It has been able to reduce, from thousands of terrorists infiltrating J&K during summer months in 90s to a few dozen.

Number of terrorist killed while infiltrating from Pakistan after completion of fence is phenomenal.

Offcourse no barrier is hundred percent effective, a small percentage will eventually slip in.
And they will be killed, one way or the other.

But aim of the fence is to raise the human cost for Pakistan to continue militancy in J&K.

I don't get this logic of fence stopping any insurgency 'from' Pakistan, if Pakistan really wanted to send through people. As India claims that Pakistan aids the infiltration by resorting to unprovoked firing across LoC. Don't you think, it is much much easier for Pakistan to start targeting the fence itself to raise the cost of maintenance and construction to a level which is a bit too high. I don't think any fence can stand persistent mortar volleys or a few artillery hits. Likewise, the subsequent guarding of 'hole/gap' could prove costly as well as can stretch manpower deployment provided the gaps are tactically manufactured at various intervals. And we are not talking about a rag tag militia trying to launch people across, we are alleging a country for using state machinery to do so
