New Delhi: India on Tuesday pulled out of SAARC summit to be held in Pakistan in November, saying that the current atmosphere not conductive for holding a successful summit.

The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement, saying, "India has conveyed to current SAARC Chair Nepal that increasing cross-border terrorist attacks in the region and growing interference in the internal affairs of Member States by one country have created an environment that is not conducive to the successful holding of the 19th SAARC Summit in Islamabad in November 2016."

"In the prevailing circumstances, the Government of India is unable to participate in the proposed Summit in Islamabad", the statement said.

According to sources, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan may also boycott SAARC summit.

The 19th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit is scheduled to be held in Islamabad from November 9 to 10.

Diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan have been rising since the September 18 attack on an Army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri that killed 18 Indian soldiers.

This development comes barely a week after Pakistan had snubbed India by sending junior officials to the SAARC meet which was held in Delhi earlier this month.

Should Pakistanis be scarred of what India is capable of doing? They can pull themselves out of a conference. Now what is Pakistan going to do?

India is welcome here. Pakistan should equally pull carpet from their feet and take their invitation back - in response to their atrocities in Kashmir. If India plays hard game, respond them harder. This is the only strategy to keep India sane.

Fair...we have also made a similar assumption about Pak...if Pak plays hard game then respond even harder...this will keep them sane...i guess the question now is who can have a longer hard on!!

SAARC who?

Seriously, SAARC has no regional influence or importance.

Considering India's deteriorating security, I predict a third attack on an Indian army base before the end of the year.

So basically, in the entire SAARC only Sri Lanka and Nepal are still going to visit Pakistan.

Wonder how long it takes for Nepal to cancel as well !

Sends a message, Pakistan is not welcome in SAARC.

Indians and MODI is not welcome in Pakistan

They have killed innocent people and are terrorist

There was nothing wrong in Indian company contract but being a decision make I opt out for Pakistani company for the 250k £ project

Every little helps :yahoo::yahoo:

And yet Half the SAARC members are not coming to pakistan  ........ what do you think that is ?

It shows SAARC is not relevant, nor does it have any regional or economic influence.

Let's not kid ourselves, SAARC is no SCO.
