BRAHMOS is not something exclusive technology like nukes which can be and must be protected. Many countries have cruise missile technology and its being upgraded everyday. By the time China understands it and develops many new versions of BRAHMOS would have come by that. Personally I doubt the veracity of the news because such an act on part of Russia will undermine her position and self respect as a nation. Given their stature, Russia would rather like to sell the technology openly by requesting or influencing India rather than resorting to such tactics. Leaking or stealing technologies befit the nations like North Korea, Pakistan etc. and definitely not Russia.

There is no defense system in this world which is absolutely flawless, even a third grade missile can sometimes penetrate into it.

However, when the exact specs are fully revealed, this missile will be pretty much useless as it will be running naked during the wartime.
