Greetings everyone!

And so it begins!

If you're unfamiliar with this project, please visit this thread first;

http://www.defence.pk/forums/current-events-social-issues/68315-flood-relief-operation-2010-phase-i.html

I'm proud to announce that our members at Defence.Pk have been able to raise 376,000 PKR for the Phase-II of the relief effort.

The Defence.pk/PakGuns.com team leaves early in the morning today after Sehri for Peshawar and InshAllah we'll be there for two nights. Relief items have already been purchased and more will be bought on our arrival. All the pictures and videos will be uploaded upon my return.

I would like to Thank our management for making this possible from our side. WebMaster, Asim Aquil, AgnosticMuslim have all been very supportive.

A special thanks to our member Zaki for voluntarily collecting all the funds from PayPal and sending them directly to me. You've been a great help, keep it up!

TaimiKhan
has also been involved in this operation and he will be a part of this entire relief effort InshAllah. Will meet up with him tomorrow and we'll go forward from there.

Our member Jiya Sehr has been collecting donations as well and she will be a part of this relief effort. She'd be going along with us and will actively take part in the field and will also handle the Medicines.

In the end, I'd also like to mention that PakGuns.com made it all possible and I thank the management specially the Admin Mr. Abbas for making Phase-I possible. They've been able to raise 400,000 PKR for the second part of this relief effort, combine the donations from this joint venture and we have ourselves a huge amount of funds for our brothers and sisters in need.

Mr Kamran Khan from PakGuns has been putting his day and night towards this noble cause. He's the one who's been buying every single item in Peshawar and he's also the backbone behind this entire relief effort. I can honestly say that without his dedication and devotion towards this noble cause, it would've been quite difficult for me to manage the Phase-II of this relief effort. Three cheers for him! :cheers:

To wrap it up, please pray for your country in these testing times and also pray for this relief effort to go as planned.

God Bless Pakistan,
God Bless the People!

Dear members,

I'm back in Lahore after a 3 day trip to Peshawar and the flood effected areas. Even though I'm quite tired right now, I'll still update you guys with a little bit of information;

These are the places that we visited during this relief effort;

1. Peshawar
2. Nowshera
3. Chaarsada
4. Village of "Pashtoon Garhi" near "Pabbi" (Grand Trunk Road)
5. Dharab Village
6. Chowki Mamrez

Items supplied per family;

1. Flour (20 KG bag)
2. Dates (1 KG)
3. Rice (3 KG)
4. Sugar (1 KG)
5. Ghee (1 KG)
6. American "Halal" MRE (Meals ready to Eat)
7. Tea (1 KG)
8. Insect repellent coils (10 Pieces in a pack)
9. Matches
10. Soaps
11. Aspirin
12. Hearty biscuit rolls for kids

Things are beyond terrible. No NGO's, No Government relief camps, No government quick-response teams, Nothing! All you see are camps provided by UNICEF and water tanks provided by "Islamic Relief Fund". That's ALL! The Water Tanks are actually quite rare but you do see some of them after 70/80kms.

There's just SO much destruction out there that its beyond anyone's imagination. Thousands of villages are now history and the ones that survived are lying in ruins. The people who've survived this tragedy are living way below the basic human rights line. The only people helping them out are the Armed forces of Pakistan and the Citizens of Pakistan.

Before we go further, I would like to Thank all the members here at Defence.pk and members from PakGuns who've made this possible. It's because of you people that we were able to successfully carry out Phase-II of the relief effort. Let there be no doubt that you guys have always been the backbone of this entire operation. Without your generous support both morally and financially, none of this could have been possible so once again, Hats off to each and every single one of you. Proud to know these amazing communities. TaimiKhan and JiyaSehr were with me during the entire relief work.

Coming back to the destruction, wherever we went we saw damaged crops, a stench of uncertainty, frustration, hunger and death. Even in these tough situations, our brothers and sisters from KPK were fasting and because of YOU guys from both communities, some of them will not worry about food for the rest of the Ramadan and Eid.

There are literally hundreds of images and videos with me. It'll take a bit of time for me to re-size and upload them so please bear with me. They'll be up and running for everyone by tomorrow InshAllah.

In short, life is pretty miserable for our countrymen in these testing times. Our efforts might just have been a drop in the ocean but after every single drop there's always a storm on its way.

God Bless Pakistan,
God Bless the People of Pakistan!

I'm done resizing, editing and uploading the images. Since there were a lot of images, I decided that I'll make a collage of 4 images. The pictures are "Clockwise" and I'll try to explain a bit about the images as much as I can.

Day 1

The Journey Begins towards Peshawar;

We encountered a weird fog in Lahore as you can see in the first picture. It maintained its presence for 60/70kms towards our destination. The weird part was that it was blistering hot. The last picture is of the mighty FC Fort in Peshawar.

200 packs of 3kg rice, 1kg Sugar and 1Kg Ghee and a lot of dates

50 Cartons of American "Halal" MRE's and to go along with the other packs of ration, some bags with Soaps, Insect Repellent coils, matches and biscuits.

What's an MRE? MRE stands for "Meals ready to eat". Contents of these "Halal" MRE's are visible.

Day 1/2;

Packing the items. Loading up 200 bags of flour (20kg Atta)

Destruction on the way to Chaarsada

In the second picture you can see a trail left by the flood. This was spotted everywhere we went. This isn't a picture of a river bed, its a crop field.

Refugee camps on the way to Chaarsada

.
We reached a village in Chaarsada called 'Shahpasand Kalay'.

In order to organize the relief work, we contacted a couple of elders in the area and they decided to give us their "Town Hall" type of building to store all the relief items. After we were done storing the items, we started handing out all the items including 200 bags of Flour (20KG). It was one of the hottest day there and we worked from 2pm till 6pm in blistering heat while fasting.

The delivery starts

People were very impatient to receive the relief items. Took some effort to get them to create a line but there was a lot of pushing and shoving involved. Thankfully it wasn't that serious and people started receiving the goods one by one.

floodreliefwork201026.jpg

Identity check

In order to give everyone a chance to receive the relief items, we decided to start collecting the ID cards of the people who were receiving the items. This made sure that everyone would get a chance to receive the items. No body managed to receive the items twice. Later, all the ID cards were returned back to their owners.

On our way back to Peshawar. The destruction along the way says it all.

In the first image you can see the "Kabul River". In the third picture, please observe the angle of the tree line. This was caused due to high speed floods in the region.

Day 3;

Our order of another 200 bags of Rice, Sugar, and Ghee was ready to be picked up.
