update banned topics list

I wanted rape topics to be back in banned list because people seem to get pleasure out of posting such threads. Besides there are 18k known rape cases per year in India (5k in pakistan), if we post each rape news, this will be a rape forum.

I understand cases like delhi or those involving foreign tourists are important but why the rest of it?
some newspaper in India have a page dedicated to local crimes (rape , murder, looting, killing) etc, I dont think they should end up here.

BTW rape happens in pakistan too and possibly with as much regularity. Just that in India suddenly its a hot topic which is why every case is being reported prominently on first page (since delhi case). Its not like suddenly Indian men caught rape virus after 2012.

We can even have a sticky for rape related news and those who like to post and read them can do so.

Yup member like @favabeans can make use of the rape sticky instead of posting every rape related news in a new thread and having to deal with the same arguments and counter-arguments time and again.

Personally I wouldn't like any topic to be banned. No offence to chinese members but PDF is not China. The idea of a public forum is to be an agent for free dissemination of news, ideas and point of views. To block any particular topic not savory to a specific group of people would defeat the idea of coming to a public forum in the first place.

If anything ought to be banned, obscenities and personal attacks should figure on the list to promote the flow of healthy meaningful discussions ...

But yes, @WebMaster has taken decision to remove it from banned list so lets post all of them pdf. May be I should google more pakistani news source.

My issue is not posting of such stories, or discussing what is wrong with the culture, those are relevant, but the racist diatribes that usually follow.

If I wanted informed opinion on sexual violence, I will turn to the Hindu or other Western news outlets.

Not a forum populated with ego filled South Asian men who use horrific stories of women getting raped to score cheap jingoistic points.

I put those threads on ignore mode.

As I said, it is better to read and read comments from people who know what they are talking about.
