This is actually really bad news.

The ideal situation is for BJP to get a majority. However from the numbers it seems the "regional parties" are the ones gaining the most from the loss of Congress votes.

For the BJP, the dip of 8% in the Congress vote share is not a complete gain. The BJP is gaining only a marginal 1%. The remaining 7% dip in Congress vote share among these respondents is a gain for regional parties that tends to confirm the view that these parties will be crucial in the formation of the next government.

Stronger regional parties and a weaker ruling party, means that the policy paralysis will likely continue.

can't say for sure, in the survey before 2009 elections third front (regional) parties were shown as the king makers but ultimately congress got 207 seats (lot easier to form govt. than 2004 elections). Also regional parties now know that they should not be seen as the one who were responsible for falling of the govt., look what happened to left parties when they withdrew there support from UPA-I.

Sad that it takes a Chinese member to remind the Indian members here to read. Just mention a Congress decline & they are all behaving as if the BJP were going to win an absolute majority. 8% drop & only 1% gain to the BJP? That's a disaster waiting to happen, we are better off with this government than some khichdi cobbled up by the 3rd front. Maybe everyone wishing for a Congress defeat should think long & hard about what they are wishing for. Might actually come true. A nightmare scenario!

I hate advani like anything... He is a powersucker like anything... And greedy... If Vajpayjee had stood fa PM in 2004, it will be have BJP again, but advani for his own greedy sidelined him...
And mahajan is dead i think, and i don think he did anything usefull...

at the hight of the NDA there were 23 parties which supported it. today the NDA consists of just 3 +bjp,
Namo does not have the acceptance across party lines to be a PM candidate. after all the bjp will not get a majority by its self.

come 2014 i see a very fractured mandate , with the regional sartaps coming together to form the govt , with outside support from one of the two national parties and then falling apart in 2-3 yrs. it happened in 79 , it happened in 90,91,96,98 too.
considering history repeats its self i think there is more than a even chance of something like this happening.

India has really matured as a democracy over time, 1990s was a time when India was transforming itself from one-party govt. to coalition party govt. therefore there was so much of chaos.

Why the fight ... After seeing all this ... I being a Hindu was repeatedly my Non Hindu Colleagues & Friends... I dont care any more about India... i needed a New Country for Hindus should be made which Protect the Hindus who get persecuted in every part of the World...

I dont feel much patriotic now about India... My fire is extinguished... even if its the size of nepal Hindus should have there own Country... Hindu should leave the united India Crap & start thinking about survival ...
