Neither Govt, nor BJP involved in conversion: Naidu | Zee News
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu insisted that the government does not support conversion or re-conversion.
"Government is nowhere in the picture, the party (BJP) is nowhere in the picture. If any individual does it, action has to be taken by the state government," he said after Congress member KC Venugopal, supported by his and other opposition parties, raised the issue during Zero Hour.
"Government is not involved and government does not support conversion or re-conversion. The entire country is peaceful, some people are unhappy. ... You want to make a political issue, make it outside. You can't go levelling allegations," Naidu.
With Venugopal raising the issue of recent instances of conversions in Kerala, Naidu said, "Action has to be taken by the state government and unfortunately it belongs to Venugopal's party (Cong). Who stopped the Congress government (in Kerala) from taking action? Action should be taken by the state government."
Earlier raising the issue, Venugopal said while two cases of conversion were reported from Kerala, there was one in Gujarat's Valsad district.
"I want to know whether the government will condemn these incidents," the Congress member said.
"These incidents indicate a purposeful move of the Sangh Parivar ... It is not an innocent move. The organisers are carrying out conversions by dishing out false promises, they are disturbing communal harmony. They are giving huge publicity to these functions," he said, fuelling protests from BJP members.
Never wanted to convert the world but to win over its heart, says VHP : North, News - India Today
Hindu outfit Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Sunday said they have never wanted to convert the world but only to "win over its heart".
Speaking at a book launch, VHP leader Ashok Singhal said it was due to their "struggle" in the last 50 years that Hindus have "regained" the lost "empire" of Delhi after 800 years, PTI reported.
"Our culture and religion were subjugated and we struggled. In 800 years, a day has now come in which we can say we have a government which is committed to protecting Hindutva. Our values will be gradually established in the country.
"We want an invincible Hindu society which works for the world's welfare according to these values...We have never gone out to convert the world but to win over their heart," Singhal said, apparently referring to the recent row over conversion.
Referring to the BJP government, he said Hindus have come back to power in Delhi after Rajput king Prithviraj Chauhan lost it in the 12th century.
He claimed that various powers in their attempts to capture the world have brought it close to a world war.
"You can see that in Australia and in Central Asia. The danger of 'Islamic terrorism' we can see in Europe. This war could have been stopped but the way different powers are in a race to establish their reign in the world, it seems this world war is inevitable," he said.
However, he said Hindus will not be a "player" in such a war as they have always sought to win the world by love and believed in spiritual and not material victory.
"They (others) are showcasing their strength on the basis of hate...World will have to think that if we have to live together then we can do so only on the basis of mutual love that India has been propagating," he said.
