99% of these Madreesahas are best examples of a NGO. They provide free shelter, free education both religious & vocational, free uniforms and free food.

The following article talks about madreesah students who got vocational training.

LAHORE: The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has imparted technical skills to some 4,000 students enrolled at 28 selected madressahs across Punjab.

Almost half of this trained manpower has now become financially independent by establishing their own businesses.

This was stated by Tevta Chairman Mohsin Syed while speaking at a meeting with the heads of madressahs and Tevta officers at authority’s secretariat on Tuesday.

'Tevta’s efforts to train youth at madressahs have started bearing fruit,' he said.

Mr Syed said Tevta had planned to set up 30 additional technical training centres at madressahs.

'A new lot of 10,000 students will be imparted technical training in short courses while offering four trades in addition to their religious education,' he added.

The Tevta chairman said the purpose to offer four technical courses at madressahs was to empower its students engaged in religious education in employable skills. He said the technical training would enable these students to have more options for sustainable livelihood and meet the demands of skilled workers in society.

Mr Syed said Saudi Arabia and Qatar were in dire need of trained manpower in the field of construction sector. He said he had directed the Tevta management to prepare a feasibility to offer construction-related courses at madressahs as well.


In order to enhance the capabilities of instructors engaged in madressahs, he said special programmes would be started to train them in latest teaching techniques. On the demand of madressahs, the Tevta chairman said, one to three years technical courses would also be offered in phases.

Perhaps combined with latest teaching techniques, we may also see "latest" curriculum which will prepare students for real jobs in the real world and prepare them to think critically on all subjects.

3 - Certificate of Sanvia Al-Aamah (Equivalent to Matric)

4 - Certificate of Sanvia Al-Khasa (Equivalent to Intermediate)

5 - Certificate of Al-Aliah (Equivalent to B.A.)

6 - Certificate of Al-Almiah (Equivalent to M.A. Arabic/Islamiat)

I read some years back, that HEC will recognize madrassah's degree wich are following certain syllabus....something like that.

Everyone will agree to the fact that madarassas are good but the point is they shld be answerable to some authority at some level - there should be a standard - even if it is Islamic education - it should be taught by true professionals - not a bunch of idiots who think terrorism is the only way to revive Islam

I agree with the above....There is no problem whatsoever with Religious studies...as a lot of times, religion defines culture....

However, if Madrasa education is all that one receives, then there needs to be some sort of standardization to make sure that power of religion is not used for selfish gains by a few......
Also...there should be a need to give an allround education with Science and Math being primary as just being an expert in Koran is not going to get you a job other than in a Madrasa probably.....

Just my 2 cents....

PS: Im quite impressed that the Madrasas use modern technology to teach....

Please keep posting more so some of us can learn about Madrasas and try to clear some misconceptions
