What's new

Featured United States has secretly built and tested a prototype of a potentially sixth generation fighter jet.

And as usual, another 20 years will passed before you get the light of it.
It is just a prototype. China and Russia also has these secret programs but as always, it is also under covered.
Except for one thing... who will be the first to reach the finishing line. :coffee:
With 27 trillion national debts and growing, I won't bet on the US today. Who knows like the EMRG on the Zamwalt, it may be cancelled due to lack of funding.

.
If this is true, why is US ordering F-15EX? They are more expensive and on paper, less capable than the F-35.

Unless... the F-35 was not performing up to standards and they have to go back to the F-15 while 6th gen is being developed.

It just goes to show how far the gap is between the US and other pretenders. While China struggles to field a credible jet engine & J-20, the US is increasing the distance between it and powers. The world still can’t field a plane that can take on the F-35 or F-22 and the pentagon said, never mind; let’s troll them. The US is generations ahead of Russia, China and the EU. All three will be playing catch-up for the foreseeable future. When it comes to technology, the US military is peerless. Total domination.

Like AI and 5G, and Intel struggle to produce a 10nm processor, while TSMC (and perhaps even Samsung) are working on 3nm?.

Combined with its allies, the US will be on a relatively fragile no.1 (because China is catching up too fast). But without Japan, Germany, Korea and Taiwan, the US technological might seems weaker than China. It is already behind China in some critical areas. While the gap between China and the US is closing in areas in which China is weaker, there is no chance that the US can close the gap with China in areas in which China is ahead.

Can the US manufacture the boiler for nuclear power plant without using the Japanese tech?
I can make endless list of critical components which the US is still relying on technological powers like Japan, Germany and Taiwan. But of course, it seems not so important now, as they are still the US's allies, at least for now.

China can build by its own all critical components of high speed trains. How many percentage in a high speed rolling stock the US can manufacture by its own now, or just import critical components from Japan and Germany, assemble them in the US and make it "made-in-USA" train, like what the Indian is doing.

Americans used to be lean and mean. Now they are just dumb and fat and lazy. This is nothing but a moral boosting fake news piece. J-20B already has 3D thrust vectoring and super cruise, F-35 will never have these features.

Bring it close to Russian border so we can check it out against S400. Either that or its just the usual super duper American miliary vomit.

This is just :blah::blah::blah: and :flame:. Interesting that Pakistan is looking to acquire more F-16s -- check out the dedicated thread to the F-16 -- but poo-pooing military technology as "vomit" and Americans as "dumb and fat and lazy."

The Chinese haven't mastered the art of engine design and manufacturer but are considered superior to what the US has.

This reminds me of the multiple threads about the collapse of the US, the dollar, etc. Like those threads, they will be proven wrong.

Pakistan may want to buy F-16 but Americans will never sell F-16 because Pakistan backs Turkey and Erdogan hates Israel.

I read years ago, china has a sixth gen program. The lead designers of j 20 were transferred to new fighter program, once j 20 was completed.

The Chinese have their own program, trust me on this.

weapons development is becoming more like smartphone development.
major countries trying to release their new weapons into service as soon as possible before the other competitors, it is practicaly a new arms race and the only country that can keep up with the US is China (impossible for Russia to keep up since they don't have the money).

China undoubtedly already has a 6th gen fighter under development regardless of the development stage that they are at. usually it was said in general for all countries 6th gen would only come into service in 2030 or 2035. so if America's 6th gen fighter enters service far much sooner than any one thought, it is possible China will do with their own 6th gen fighter what they did with the J-20 that is... release it into service even if it does not have all the components and capabilities that it was supposed to have in it's complete final form, just like how China did not wait for the WS-15 and instead chose to inroduce the J-20 in service and then add in incremental improvemnts in the new variants every few years, depending on China's own assessment of the situation they may decide to introduce their own 6th gen fighter in to service after just 5 or 8 years from now instead of 10 or 15 years even if it would not have all the final capabilities that it was supposed to have and then as time moves on & more 6th gen technologies are ready introduce them in new variants.

The head of Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC) already publicly stated this early last year.

Is there a thread somewhere about Chinese 6th gen fighter development? Could we have more discussion about the actual thread article please? I am interested in reading more about the developments in the US 6th gen program but have to scroll through all these posts to find anything.
