That is exactly what is happening. It looks like something from 1960's. Let's not make this country a dumping ground of Chinese junk. These car's won't last 7 years on the roads.
There is a for market for low end cheap cars. Not everything has to be fancy and technologically superior. United is one of the companies that broke the monopoly of the Japanese motorcycle industry in Pakistan by producing low priced clones. The motorcycle industry became cottage industry and production increased from a few hundred thousand to more than two million. They can do the same in the car industry. They know the consumers in that segment and already have the sales network. BTW seven years is good life for a car.It looks like something from 1960's. Let's not make this country a dumping ground of Chinese junk. These car's won't last 7 years on the roads.
Toyota Vitz (Yaris), Suzuki Cultus (Celerio) and Suzuki Mehran are not in the same class. You need to update yourself with the price of cars in the market at moment. 1300CC cars by companies Suzuki, Honda and Toyata are going touching Rs 2 Million and beyond, while 800CC cars even like Mehran have exceeded Rs 0.8 Million and some have exceeded even Rs 1 Million, and their body structure is horrible, they don't have features presented in 1300CC cars. This car, although 800CC not only is way better than these other 800CC cars launched by Suzuki, who by the way are selling their cars overpriced thanks to the dominancy they hold in the market for 800CC cars which has a high demand and due to no competitors, but this car with these features is also a lot cheaper than these other options at Rs 0.8 million. This car is not meant to compete with the market of cars like Corolla, Honda and others, it's meant to compete with cars like Vitz, Mehran and Cultus and other such 800CC hatchbacks by Suzuki.

The Solution is to have laws as other countries have. even more so .Government owned car manufacturing, and slap high taxes on all assembled and higher taxes on imported.
