United Arab Emirates: Sending home the foreigners

Neither.

People won't come back unless they are forced to leave, so it is up to the host government to decide, not them or me. And I am not in the GCC, so what happens there does not really affect me at all.

So basically force everyone else out cause I am in a western country that cannot throw me out. Sounds good.

Well said Argus. But a country like the UAE - an ally to Pakistan - can't do such move without thinking about the consequences.

I am sure that the UAE government will consider all aspects and consequences of any decision they might make in this matter.

So basically force everyone else out cause I am in a western country that cannot throw me out. Sounds good.

Please note that I am not saying to force any one out or not. That is for the GCC governments to decide. All I am saying is that if those Pakistani expats move back as a result of any such decision, if made, will actually help Pakistan.

Argus Panoptes i have a question and i am bit confused about your position.

yesterday you questioned the lady who missed her home (pakistan)and said would she say the same if her purse and phone were taken at gun point.
Today you go on to say ''This will be great for Pakistan, given that large numbers the highly trained expat manpower in the GCC region could return home and put their skills to use there''. what if these people left pakistan cause law and order situation?
why would they come back they can simply move on to another country that appreciates their talent.

Are you suggesting other people to come back or you saying that you will be first in line to hurry back?

So basically force everyone else out cause I am in a western country that cannot throw me out. Sounds good.

@Cheetah786 and @forcetrip - you guys asked the same question, and rest assured will not get the right answer.

Our 'boy' here is one of those patriots whose patriotism is directly proportional to the distance between them and Pakistan, and who will never want another Pakistani to get ahead. All talk, no action.

And yes, he is sitting safely in a country that cant throw him out and will certainly never be the one heading the line back home. No point engaging with him on this.

Skills within an unorganized country mean zilch! Entrepreneurs on the other hand, thrive in chaos.

Sadly, all of the work force returning from the Gulf are nothing more than automatons, who have already been "robotized" to perform certain tasks, and just those tasks within certain parameters. The only thing these people will look for is jobs, and only thing they will add to is jobless numbers.

If it were the case of "brain-drain" where highly-skilled scientists: mathematicians, physicist, bio technologists, had gone to the Gulf States, then a "reverse-brain-drain" would have benefited us. Unfortunately, the returning population consists of: 70% labour + 30% mix of (MBBS with almost no specializations + Engineers holding basic BE/BS + Bankers having either BCOM or MBA's from one of the most pathetic institutes on the planet).

In short, there is no "bright-side" to this whole equation.

Note: All of our brightest minds end up either in the US of A /OR/ EU.

Yes, but the return of even that cadre of educated people that you describe will actually improve the local expertise, because the domestic standards are even worse than that: we have hakims instead of basic MBBS doctors, overseers with diplomas doing engineering work, and bankers with third division pass BA instead of even a pathetic MBA.

The Pakistanis that end up in USA/EU are a separate case since this thread is on expats in the GCC region, where they do not give permanent residence or citizenship, no matter how long you stay.

Bingo, I never knew what it was but those words explain all I feel in one sentence.

Nothing will happen with the semi skilled labor returning from the Gulf. We need an act of God and these western countries to throw out first generation immigrants for this country to make a difference. After the second generation 90% of them will know very little about their country, and forget about the third generation even knowing where Pakistan is on the map.

Mate, I myself love chaos. That's exactly where I can spot opportunities, and am at my very best.

I shall never forget a quote from one of my Profs at business school, a Danish geezer... "Wherever there is sh*t, there is sh*t loads of money to be made"

Bingo, I never knew what it was but those words explain all I feel in one sentence.

Foreigners are not the ones who will be rioting at the end of the day. Monarchies are bound to fail at one point or another unless they strip down their powers like british monarchy. In short the threat is within not outside.

Why would God care where you live, since He made you and the whole world for you to live in? And why should western governments throw out law-abiding productive residents that are granted the same rights as others after a period of time as defined by law? It is the GCC countries that do not allow this, and they are the ones far more likely to kick foreigners out, no matter how long they have lived there, or even born there.

I doubt that will ever happen due to the fact that god really doesnt answer stupid requests like that (also do not have any facts on prayers ever working other than in money making documentaries or Facebook post asking me to like their pretend heartwarming stories).

Not sure but GCC countries also come in Gods domain. Maybe they should copy paste your advice in their deportation forms.

They don't have the power to pass laws unless approved by HOC. Economy is not in their control. They cant mobilize military without approval of HOC. They have relinquished a lot of power.

I hope they also send back all the Iranians to Iran, who are among wealthiest groups in UAE.
