Can we procure gripen? with meteor?
If Swedes want to develop their own engine, followed by purchases from PAF, Pakistan should invest in R&D to develop jet engines by SAAB!!
Teach paksitani students swedish, send them for higher education, let them work in SAAB. A 5-10 years plan to make at least engines if not AZM.

Learning an engine is not hard , but we need a metallurgy genius like AQ Khan to help us understand it.

Pakistan tested the Gripen in 90s, couldn’t get it due to embargoes from US. It has 20% US parts. But we don’t need it, Gripen is a light fighter, much like JF, It doesn’t offer much advantage over JF block 3 + PL-15 for its price.

Yara 90 ki corlloa aur ajj ki may farq ha :P
Still, if we cant get f-16, then grippen can be a good option (for mirage), Jf-17 is a replacement for F-7 and A 5 mainly. Also we use swedish AWACS which increases intra-operabilty.

The western countries would say that it is 'very unfair' of Pakistan to expect favorable terms in trade relations when Pakistan accuses western countries of Islamophobia. From a western perspective, Pakistan does not hold China to the same standard.

In the cold war era, Pakistan and the western countries had a better alignment of strategic interests (as India was in Soviet orbit). This has resulted in Pakistan having access to better military technology than India.

This is similar to the current era - only this time, Pakistan has better alignment of interests with China.

It is interesting to note that Pakistan has taken all this pressure on itself and sided with China. This is due to the fact that in this two superpower battle, Pakistan understands fully who is stronger in the region, whereas India is US' best friend in the region and plays as the fluet against China. There is a strong chance that china is going to break this bamboo(india) and make a Twitter map that actually works. This is the reason why Chinese Tibetans are ready and deployed in front of India not to grab the land, but to defeat this US puppet.

Pak knows how to leverage the geo-dynamics! It requires skills, guts, planning, execution, credibility and luck....

India and US have aligned regional goals for the moment.

Nothing short of a major Indo-China war can result in translating that map into a reality. The only question is, does China want to kill trade and all diplomatic relations with India for that objective? An over opportunistic foe would like to see that. But I'm not convinced that this is on the cards for the foreseeable future.

Remember the story of last year that the United States restricted European companies from cooperating with China, but issued special permits to U.S. companies?

Either buy American weapons in exchange for support, or buy Chinese and Russian weapons. European weapons should never be considered.

I think there is a problem between you and the West, which is the fact that you guys do not seem to understand China's mentality at all. There is a possibility of China being able to engage both in trade and war simultaneously.
Neither your concepts of war nor your training for war is based on a comprehensive electromagnetic spectrum, as your doctrine in general has been 20 years behind this preparation for war. While I am watching episode of operation twitter map tuning into reality while I am enjoying my popcorn and soda, I am seeing your future.

The issue of US parts remains…US isn’t clearing our helicopters, unlikely they will clear fighter jets. Better to buy more JFs instead and go for J10C.

I mean no offense, but speaking strictly from a performance standpoint, generally European options are still superior to Chinese and sometimes even Russian ones. But considering cost and geopolitics changes that. Not that China or Russia dont make good tech, but Russian development is slowing down and China is still catching up (thought rather rapidly, give it a decade or two and this comment won’t be much relevant)
Even for a country like Pakistan it’s not wise to put all its eggs in one basket. The more Pakistan can buy from Europe the better, as long as the purchases have no US controlled parts, which is rare with European weapons. Whatever they can’t get from Europe, China is always waiting. Russia-Pakistan weapons sales remain to be seen. I still see SU35 as a realistic option for Pakistan but alas politics would get in the way…

India cannot get as close to the US as you think or as much as the US wants without breaking their partnership with Russia, US will bully India with sanctions if tries to stay friendly with both.
I sincerely wish India becomes great allies with the USA and leaves Russia behind so Pakistan can get closer to them, so 30 years down the line when US doesn’t need India anymore you realize how “good” of an ally the
US makes.

India cannot become a full ally of US. But US and India will co-operate when it comes to dealing with China. This co-operation is bound to weaken India's relationship with Russia.

Already, India has reduced its dependency on Russian arms. While it gives India the benefit of having access to western technology, it will also result in Russia slowly pivoting towards Pakistan in the region. You win some, you loose some.

Simple question: who can we trust?

The answer is simple.
