A: No, it's not. All religions – indeed, all human creations – change over time. Christianity and Judaism a few centuries ago differed profoundly from their current manifestations. Islam has changed in many ways over the past half-century. This being the case, there is every reason to think that Islam will continue to change; let's hope it modernizes and jihadism disappears.

Yeah, first of all that narrative they try playing is totally misleading, the Palestinian struggle was nationalist at its core. Especially at the time the major developments occurred form 50's to 70's. There were Christian, Muslim and atheist activists and no religious parties. Even today, while some parties may be more religious, the struggle is not religious. That's foolish to insinuate.

The only reason those outside of the conflict might see it that way is due to the propaganda campaign in the West. Which seeks to represent the conflict through religious tense, that Israel is in a struggle against 'Jihadist' Muslims. That way they can try to deflect attention from the real matters and attempt discrediting the Palestinian quest for independence.

And then to your point, they don't know what the Arab term 'Jihad' is used as in Arabic language. They of course are referring to 'Jihadists' or in Arabic 'Jihadeen'. And yes that does refer to soldiers at the time of Prophet Mohammed. They framed their struggle in a different manner. Rather than saying they're fighting for the state or empire. Arabs at the time did not have an empire and didn't have a meaning to rely on. There was polytheism and monotheism, and monotheism won and lead to formation of strong armies and empires. That's all it really is.
