Let me add another aspect of geopolitics:

US and India are now getting closer to each other and US is supporting India in multiple cases. Why? Because US wants to use India against China instead of confronting China directly. India has invested a lot in Iran like in Chabahar Port. If US takes an opposing stance against Iran, then this will hurt India. With this scenario, US will not like to do any such thing when US is trying to prop up India against China. This whole geopolitics game is not easy to balance as things are much more connected now than before.
