Saudi Arabia buys tens of thousands of AK-47s from Croatia and floods Yemen with these guns. Yemen is in no shortage of Soviet era arms thanks to Saudi Arabia. UN cannot enforce any resolution. UN has no army so it has no power to do anything.

Russians are not angels. Its just that they didn't want to be seen going against an otherwise unanimous resolution. Interesting is that China has voted in favor of the resolution as well.

Never has been Iran so politically isolated. UN's banner just gave the operation all sorts of legitimacy it requires.
