Mullahs are the bane of Pakistan and the ummah, if something like it still exists. They have left no chance for state and religion to co exist.
Ulema were against creation of Pakistan: Fawad
Listen
ISLAMABAD: Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said the decision on how to run the country can’t be left to a Maulana, as most of the Ulema were against the creation of Pakistan.
He said the journey ahead for the country will be decided by the youth and technology will take the country forward. In Twitter messages, the minister said a new committee of experts has been established which would determine moon sighting for key dates and months in the Islamic calendar for the next 10 years, Geo News reported.

The five-member committee will comprise science and technology experts from SUPARCO (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission) and MET Office, Chaudhry wrote on Twitter.
The committee will prepare an Islamic calendar of important dates and months for the next 10 years, including Ramazan, Eid, and Muharram, which will put an end to the moon-sighting controversies that arise every year, the minister added.
Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee chief Mufti Munibur Rehman strongly disagreed with Chaudhry and said that the minister is ‘unaware of religious matters’.
“Fawad Chaudhry is unaware of the system. He doesn’t even know that the committee meets at Suparco. I have previously appealed to the premier to let only concerned minister speak on religious issues. The science and technology minister doesn’t understand the sensitivity of the issue. He shouldn’t have a licence to speak on it,” he said.
Mufti Munib said history bears witness to immense sacrifices made by Ulema during the freedom movement, adding that it is not appropriate to cite the role of a few Ulema only to criticise the others.
“Fawad Chaudhry has a habit of making baseless claims to gain popularity. One must take caution while commenting on Ulema,” he said. “Our announcements regarding moon have never been wrong. Everyone bears witness when the moon is sighted. If you are fond of making a lunar calendar, then go ahead and make a calendar of 100 years instead of just 10,” he said.

Les Dullahsrecent history.
Such strong lobbying caused all the problems we have now and weakened PakistanDeoband Mullahs weren't the only ones who opposed Pakistan.
Ahmed Raza Khan, the founder of Barelvi Movement, had died in 1921 ... His son, Mustafa Raza Khan titled Mufti-e-Azam Hind preferred to stay in India. He died in 1980s and is buried in Bareili. Ahmed Raza had other sons too and one of them was Hamid Raza but he died in 1943 though he too never participated in the struggle for Pakistan's creation. None of Ahmed Raza's descendants live in Pakistan, in fact, they hate Pakistan. Barelvis were the ones who really gave the push but the Barelvi headquarters (Barelvi hierarchy; Ahmed Raza's son and other "Khalifas") were against Pakistan Movement .
And Shias too didn't support Pakistan Movement en masse ... Groups like "The Momins" and "Shia Conference" were aligned with Congress .. Maulana Mazhar Ali Azhar, the leader of the notorious "Ahrar" who called Jinnah "Kaafir e Azam", represented that he was a Shia, before the inquiry commission (see 1953 Munir Report)
Virtually every significant religious group in Undivided India, indeed the entire Muslim religious establishment was opposed to Jinnah and his Pakistan Movement.
Even the sanest among Ulema/Islamic scholars opposed Jinnah. For example, Allama Mashriqi Sahib
Allama Mashriqi (1888-1963) became a college Principal at the age of 25, and then became an Under Secretary, at the age of 29, in the Education Department of the Government of India. He wrote an exegesis of the Qur'an which was nominated for the 1925 Nobel Prize. He was offered an ambassadorship to Afghanistan at age 32, but he declined all honours. He subsequently resigned government service and in 1930 founded the Khaksar Movement, aiming to advance the condition of the masses irrespective of any faith, sect, or religion.
His weekly , Al-Islah (f.1934), indeed served to spread the Movement, which rose to become a Private Army (as referred to by Lord Linlithgow, Viceroy of India) of 5 million in less than a decade since its foundation and had over 6000 offices across India . In addition, the Al-Islah inspired others who copied the Khaksars and formed similar organizations. The weekly also helped to achieve Allama Mashriqi’s (founder of the Khaksar Tehrik) mission of instilling unity, strict discipline, equality, and self-less community service (regardless of religion) amongst millions of Khaksars.
Allama Masriqi and Khaksars, despite their tireless efforts and countless sacrifices for freedom of India, strongly opposed Partition and Jinnah's Pakistan Movement. Khaksars even tried to assassinate Jinnah.
مُلا کو جو تھی ہند میں آزادی نماز کیMinister of Science and Technology cannot even help Mr. Fayyaz with his flying machine and believes that SUPARCO sent the hubble telescope.
His selection as Minister of Science and Technology speaks volume of his merit as judged by the True Leader himself.
The government is flaring up sectarian tensions in Pakistan as they did during the election campaign. I wonder if it was another IMF demand.
Anyhow let the Mullah bashing begin
