A fleet of British warships and military aircraft billed as the "largest concentration of maritime and air power to leave the UK in a generation" will depart next month for visits to India, Japan, South Korea and Singapore, in a display of Britain's ambition to exert a much stronger presence in Asia.

New aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, the most powerful surface vessel in the Royal Navy's history, will set sail next month for Asia with eight fast jets on board.

It will be accompanied by six Royal Navy ships, a submarine armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles, 14 naval helicopters and a company of Royal Marines.

Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said Monday the mission aims to show that Britain is "not stepping back but sailing forth to play an active role in shaping the international system."

"When our Carrier Strike Group sets sail next month, it will be flying the flag for Global Britain – projecting our influence, signalling our power, engaging with our friends and reaffirming our commitment to addressing the security challenges of today and tomorrow," Mr Wallace said in a statement.

The deployment is expected to last about six months and visit more than 40 countries. Mr Wallace is expected to reveal more details to Parliament later today.

Last month, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the Indo-Pacific region will become Britain's defense and foreign policy focus as the UK reconsiders its place in the world order after leaving the European Union.

Johnson had planned to visit India to boost trade and investment ties as part of that plan, but he was forced to cancel the trip as the coronavirus pandemic worsened in India.

The Defense Ministry said the military deployment will help deepen security and political ties and support Britain's exports and international trade.

Wow

What’s even better is that the PLAN is going to get a SIGNIFICANT increase in warships and submarines in the next few of years. China is only getting started :coffee:

China is a SHIPBUILDING BEHEMOTH. England is a cobwebbed has been that is barely croaking.

China is just getting started with its navy program. It can out build the rest of the world in ships. So if the West wants to keep poking the dragon, it can do it. But it won't like the results.

Let's just eyes on US, it is human's nature to look forward.

that would be a joy to watch!

These deluded Euro has beens can keep poking the dragon even as their own societies crumble and it will happen sooner than later. China has good ties with a number of Eastern European countries, don't be surprised if they start hosting a Chinese naval base that can regularly patrol the waters around England.

Mark my words. China's navy will one day be doing regular FONOPS through the English channel. Give it 10 years.

As of now, the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) task force will include at least three ships. The Type 52D destroyer Hefei, the Type 054A guided missile frigate Yuncheng, and the supply ship Luoma Lake are known to be enroute to the Baltic Sea now. Until China's massive Type 055 destroyer is operational, the Type 052D remains the most capable surface combatant in the PLAN's inventory, and the Type 054A is the most advanced frigate in China's naval arsenal as well.

Wow. That timeline just moved up fast.
Unfortunately, that is not our style.

Overwhelming power and force is the only language Anglos understand.
