The supplies will take place from 2021 to 2030.

The Ukrainian Ivchenko Progress state design bureau will supply the Turkish armed forces with over 500 cruise missile engines worth $600 million.

According to the company, the supply of AI-450 turboprop engines to the Akıncı operational-strategic UAV, as well as upgraded AI-25 turbojet engines to a promising unmanned fighter, will take place from 2021 to 2030, according to Defense Express. The first test flight of the new attack drone with Ukrainian engines took place on December 6, 2019. Akıncı spent 16 minutes in the air and made a smooth, automatic landing.

2021 - 2030 is a long time ..... Turkey is having real problems in developing it’s own Engines ... be it for ALTAY or for Cruise Missiles.

I am not surprise!

Not good news I hope Turkey produces it's own engines relying on others can become a norm
Its not as easy you think to be everything self reliant in military section.

Money? Industries? Talent? Facilities? Turkey is not a trillion dollar economy, it has it own limit.

These are the 450hp Akıncı engines. There is a 200hp uav engine developed that will be used on smaller uav and also trying to develop a 750hp engine for the Akıncı for later configurations. As there is various different UAV programs with different engine requirements.

That tells which point turkey now reached, the critical phase, the engines which are the heart of all military equipments :D these news are bad for you not good.

Manufacturing reliable and durable engine of desired power is not an easy task. Even China (despite of much bigger industrial base, huge defense spendings and greater excess to technology) is having difficulty in manufacturing a mature engine. But I hope our Turkish brother will achieve it.

Turkey needs to act smart and instead of buying engines try to get technology from Ukraine of engines of every kind.

interesting, i couldnt get "500 engines for cruise missile" part , we have SOM engine now, they may be for GEZGIN cruise missiles.

Takes Yankees more than a decade to delevope F119, so yeah, it is hard.

Turkish gas turbine engines on the most critical projects started giving fruits. Ts-1500 turboshaft engine will be integrated on domestic 6 ton helicopter called Gökbey this year. Same engine will power up T-629 attack helicopter - the ITAR free 6 ton variant of T-129 Atak helicopters. When this engine converted into turbofan, It can provide a thrust around 7000-8000lbf.

Same institute charged to develop a new turboshaft engine called TS-3000 (3000shp) which is going to be integrated Atak-II heavy class attack helicopters and 10-13t utiliry helicopters.

Kale group has successfully completed development of KTJ-3200 turbojet engine. This engine will be the main power source of Atmaca SSM and SOM missiles.

Kale is developing more powerful KTJ engine to power up Gezgin land attack cruise missiles and SOM-ER ALCM. Gezgin missile will have a range more than 1000km while SOM-ER 800km.

In this aspect, Turkish industry can not develop tens of engine programs simultaneously. We have a capacity in this field but the ongoing aerial programs can not wait loaded schedule of TEI engine programs. It causes a stop-gap for continuation of defense programs. In this aspect;

Following engines are selected from Ukraine!

  • Al-450 turboprop engines: Akinci drones
  • MS-500V-S turboprop engines: Heavily armed (1,5t payload) Akinci variant
  • Al-25T turbofan engines: Unmanned fighter jet programs (1t payload, 900km/h speed)

Turkey (51) and Ukraine(49) established an institute called BlackSea shield and This institute is receving technology of following engines. At the end of the day, This institute will provide some of those engines for Turkish strategic unmanned platforms.

You can see the importance of programs when you check the comments of chinese and egyptian trolls.

Alhamdulilah very nice developments Turkey and Pakistan need to setup a joint production and Research Development Center I dont know why both off our governments cant achieve such a small step towards becoming self sufficient

yes we know , you are like a nightmare rather than a surprise.
Nightmare for revealing the truth. Some people refused to know the truth. Reality is hard to accept at times.
