Ukraine seeks to join NATO; defiantPutin compares Kiev to Nazis

.
Yea, NATO sure acts as a deterrent. And I just meant that the PKK is the one making the claim.
pkk are just 5-6 thousand extremists out of 14 million Kurds in Turkey, what they say doesnt matter.

urkey did seem pretty positive in a possible creation of a Kurdish state in northern Iraq recently.
Yeah sure since KRG is almost like 82. Province of Turkey their entire economy is dependent on Turkey and they are a cheap oil source, supporting independence of KRG means more influence for Turkey over a potential Kurdish state.

Now that Syria and Turkey turned from friends to enemies, who knows, maybe Syria will arm PKK against Turkey :agree:

If Ukraine is accepted into the NATO alliance,

My taxes will go to the money that my government as well as 27 others may spent on training and modernisation of Ukrainian Armed Forces to make them reach NATO-STANAG Standards.

I wouldn't want that but it'd make fun of trolling Russia and Putin. So I liked it :D

NATO was formed in 1949.

Ireland achieved independence in 1922, following a 1918 declaration of independance. They have been arguing ever since about whether the 6 counties of Northern Ireland should or should not be part of Ireland, including a fair amount of violence on both sides. It's calmed recently, but was going strong when NATO was formed.

India achieved independence between 1947 (the Act) and 1950 (constitution in effect), so that was underway at the time as well. Most of the rest of the colonies separated in the 50's and 60s, but the movements for independence had started long before.

East Germany was formally occupied by Russian troops, to keep them from formally rejoining West Germany, so I'm not sure how you want to count that. As soon as the Russians left, they reunited. One might hope for the same with the Ukraine.

SCO is getting India, Pakistan, Iran, Mongolia as new members on September 11. What an insult to America :agree:
Didn't know, don't care now that I do know. Not feeling insulted in the slightest. :-)

West Germany and East Germany were agreed upon. There was no dispute. As for Ukraine, considering half of that country speak Russia plus Ukrainian is an eastern Slavic language pretty much the same as Russian, I seriously doubt Ukraine would ever join NATO. Ditto with Belarus.

I'm just saying that Greece has a territorial dispute with Turkey and it's a NATO country. And Turkey has a territorial dispute with Greece and the Kurds.

So it's more along the lines of "NATO doesn't take in countries that have territorial disputes that involve Russia in some way". xP
so you claim land from turkey and vis versa? nope

It is such Provocative Acts by Ukraine that have riled up the ethnic Russians in Ukraine. The Western Ukrainians appear to be itching to break up their Country.

. .
With Russian tanks sitting in Ukraine, NATO won't touch Ukraine with a ten foot pole.

Do you seriously think Germany and France want to sacrifice Berlin and Paris to save Kiev?
Think again!

Gibraltar was ceded to Britain, not leased territory like HongKong

Spain doesn't see it that way. I'm not saying I agree, I'm saying there is a dispute. Disputed status of Gibraltar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yep. Look up Cyprus. There are other disputed islands as well, and the conflict between Turkey and Greece goes back a long time.

The UN is still there United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia including Serbs. Slavs are helping to keep the peace!

After Maidan in 2004, they too were going to join NATO. And then there was no civil war. If NATO still decide to accept Ukraine, I am sure that Russian troops will enter and free fron junta power as much land than adoption of the remnants of Ukraine into NATO would have no strategic importance.

The day Ukraine decides to join NATO is the day Russia invades Ukraine and topples the regime in power.
Ukraine or Georgia joining NATO is the red line for Moscow.

The West can cry and threaten and sanction Russia all they want, but Ukraine or Georgia joining NATO is the breaking point.

Russia is fully preparing for this moment, they know it will happen so I think Russia will eventually topple the Kiev regime.

This is what Russia is waiting for.
