KYIV, March 19 /Ukrinform/. Already by mid-May, Ukraine and Georgia have a chance to sign a visa agreement with the European Union.

It is reported by Deutsche Welle, with reference to sources in the European Commission.

"Ukraine and Georgia have a chance to sign a visa-free agreement with the European Union by May," the report says.

However, both countries must first meet several requirements of Brussels.

As Reuters reported earlier, the German government slightly cooled the expectations of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that Ukraine would receive a visa-free regime with the European Union at a summit of EU countries with its eastern partner countries in mid-May in Riga. According to the sources, the talks on this issue are still going on, however, it is impossible to predict how far they will have advanced by May.

Representatives of the European Commission have repeatedly said in recent months that visa-free agreements between the two countries have yet to be agreed.

Highly doubt that to be true, EU members such as Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Germany wants to tighten free movement among EU members.

. . . .
Another retarded idea. Take them to EU and later complain about immigrants coming iver to wealthy EU countries.

Nope, England are part of EU, they just don't use the Euro.

But now Eu countries are working to put border checkpoints mainly to check internal immigration. Still not sure will Ukranians will be able to travel to UK or Norway.

Even dont know how would be things with Greeks because of the on going debt issue.

Ukraine is getting preferred treatment since EU candidate Turkey is still waiting for visa free access to EU.

Poland is part of EU and one of the main concern for England is the Polish immigrants.

I have heard such "news" 10-15 times starting from the first coup in 2004.

Klimkin on visa-free regime: we still have chances| Ukrinform

KYIV, March 25 /Ukrinform/. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin claims that Ukraine will "fully implement" reforms envisaged by the action plan for visa liberalization, and said that the risk refusal of visa-free regime for Ukrainians is caused by Russia's aggression.

He said this in a comment to the Yevropeiska Pravda online newspaper.

"Over the past year, Ukraine has conducted large-scale changes required to obtain a visa-free regime with the EU. Implementation of legislation on the fight against corruption is ensured, the law enforcement system is reformed, and Ukraine started issuing biometric documents for traveling abroad. These reforms will be fully implemented," Klimkin assured.

The minister recalled that the EU mission has arrived in Ukraine to assess the performance of Action Plan for visa liberalization by Kyiv.

"Ukrainians, who travel to the EU countries not violating any laws, should not pay for the risks of practical implementation of visa-free regime that arouse because of the Russian aggression in the east of Ukraine," he said to the representatives of the European Union.

The Foreign Minister expressed his belief that the visa barrier for short-term travelling of Ukrainian citizens to the EU "must be eliminated."
