KARACHI: The United Kingdom wants to increase its trade with Pakistan to 2.5 billion pounds by 2015 from current 1.5 billion pounds, said Francis Campbell, the UK Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, on Thursday evening.
We have 100 companies in Pakistan at present, he said at a reception hosted for the UK-based investors who have come to Karachi to attend the 6th Expo Pakistan Exhibition.
Pakistan has huge potential for investment in various sectors of the economy and as far as law and order is concerned, it is an issue being faced all over the world, he said while responding to queries of reporters.
The Deputy High Commissioner said 50 UK-based companies are attending the exhibition to explore the avenues of investment. These companies belong to information technology, sportswear, hotel and tourism, media, household items, packaging and alternate energy, Campbell added.
Referring to the last years exhibition, he said Pakistans private sector received orders worth $80 million from the UK.
It is our endeavour to bridge the gap between the private sectors of both the countries, he said.
