"Around 5,000 soldiers from both sides were killed but analysts on the Oryx Blog, relying on publicly available pictures and video, estimated that Armenia lost 224 tanks compared with 36 from Azerbaijan. “The Azeris use of drones was decisive,” added Prof Michael Clarke, a distinguished fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi), a military thinktank."

Several TB2 drones were downed by Armenian forces, revealing how Baykar is able to make them relatively cheaply. A report released by the Armenian National Committee of America in November included photos of components used in the damaged drone,
including a navigation system from Garmin

Interesting, looks like we will be seeing more drones, and not less. Hopefully we can use our technology in stealth to make them even more lethal, but cheaper ( i know, contradiction to some extent ).

Technically, not Armenian tanks but rather Artsakh tanks. Azerbaijan has yet to fight with Armenia.

The factory gate cost of a TB2 is less than 2 million$! And, the foreign components like the engine, imaging etc. are getting indigenous too! So, the real amount of money paid in the foreign currency is getting even smaller!! Bayraktar produces 1 TB2 per week.....

Shouldn't be a problem, we can embark on a low cost drone problem alongside the more tactical follow on to Taranis. We opted to go for a joint venture with France from a 2014 signing, but that was stopped in 2018, after things turned sour between us and the EU.

The lack of SATCOM makes TB2 unsuitable for Britain. TB2 is good against some weak small countries like Artsakh but not really useful for Britain.

The U.K. has no need to buy the TB2 nor has it indicated it will do so.
It’s a review about current battlefield awareness and the need for lost cost effective drones.

And hopefully we do not resurrect that joint venture with France ( and we also stop all current inflight weapons development projects with them aswell). I hope, the recent months have taught the the UK goverment new found lessons about France.

Yep they are a rival and should be treated as such. Actually I only think Poland is the one who has our back.

@waz @Ali_Baba sorry gents, our opinions in UK strategic matters are meaningless regardless of how many Union Jacks we put.

i mean the FIST program has been a thing long before the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. and one of its main focus was UAVs and drones. the conflict might've emphasized its need but i would say that the FIST program is still enough for the UAV needs for britain as of yet

and just a few days ago the 32 Regiment Royal Artillery trained with puma UAVs and news of Britain buying 30 nano bug drones just broke yesterday. so i would say that as far as i know, Britain has been procuring more and more UAVs consistently

I mean if your opponent has virtually no SHORADs then this would be a good choice, seeing as the UK only fights impoverished nations.
