Unfortunately, common man never benefits from this. UK, France, Italy...all in line to grab oil and make profit but oil prices are not going to go down. Corporations wage war.

I agree with you jdme. In the UK we pay about £1 out of £1.45 in tax hence the government here are super sensitive to oil issues round the world especially in Libya. Recently they have been involved in sucking up to Gaddafi and British companies have invested a load of $$ in oil refinement project hence are trying to protect their interests.

Yes but specifically in this case i meant also indirect tax like VAT that we cant avoid

If i am not wrong income tax plus NI is around 20-23%. and i am more than happy if they put VAT up rather than income tax. to be honest these taxes are needed to be generated, otherwise we wont get the services.
