We don't know how many people are going to participate, but it's obviously never going to be a majority. That still doesn't negate the fact that hatred exists. You have varying degrees of hate. There is always a minority willing to justify hatred through violence. There is a larger portion of people who hold negative feelings. Some are vocal and some are silent.

The point is that such sentiments exist on a pretty large scale. We can observe this kind of behavior because the polls suggest how favorable and unfavorable the locals view immigrants or Muslims for instance. The stats aren't encouraging.

Having said that, I also believe that reconciliation is a two way street. Surely immigrants must participate and do their bit, but so must the local authorities by stamping out hatred.

Hatred exists and we need to confront it head on. The authorities and politicians like to earn brownie points by politicizing these sensitive issues. How can certain political parties that condone violence and hate against minorities and Muslims earn a lot of sympathy from ordinary people? That is revealing and it is wrong.

You know what kind of accusations Sadiq Khan had to face when he was running his campaign for the mayor of London? Even up to this day many white racist Brits don't accept Sadiq Khan as their mayor.
