A PM of a country has many things to do, many meetings to attend, and many decisions to make. If he is busy spending/ wasting 16 hrs a day on prayer mat, he has little time to work.

Such a person should not seek the 2nd highest office of that country. Sadie Khan worked hard to get elected as the Mayor of London.

London is infested with like-minded Pakistani and BD Muslims. They and even Indians supported him for London.

Big personalities don’t become small by gestures and are neither afraid of it.
They grow taller with such gestures. It was gracious of Sunak to get down on his knee and show respect to someone older then him.

Otherwise, as prime minister of UK, he could have easily kept standing with nose pointing towards sky and feeling of self importance.
