Britain’s government made a firm decision to allow China’s Huawei to have a role in building the country’s 5G phone network and as far as the foreign ministry’s top official understands it is not being reopened, he said on Tuesday.

Britain decided in January to allow Huawei into what the government said were non-sensitive parts of its 5G network, capping its involvement at 35%.

Asked whether he would advise the foreign minister to try to change the government’s position on Huawei, Simon McDonald, permanent under secretary and head of the diplomatic service at the foreign ministry, told lawmakers: “As you know ... the government decided to proceed with an investment but with very strict conditions ... As far as I know that ... is a firm decision and is not being reopened.”

“China is a very important partner of the United Kingdom and I think it’s compatible to proceed with the Huawei decision and have the strategically independent relationship that I have been talking about.”

Although this has gone through, there will need to be full transparency from the Chinese after this pandemic is over as otherwise it will not be trusted by most governments around the world.

I am not one to jump on the neo-con bandwagon.

We know that the USA for obvious reasons wants to stop China's rise.

We just want after this pandemic is over for full co-operation from China to get to the bottom of it.

No one will blame China if the source of the disease was a"wet-market" or it spread around the world beyond China's control, but you will be blamed if it looks like you are trying to hide something.

UK government has rightly praised China's supplies of equipment but has also rightly said that China should co-operate in a full investigation into this.

Yes if China has evidence that other countries have information then this can be brought up in the investigation. If it turns out USA has key evidence then they will need to hand it over.

As an example of the USA being out of step with the rest of the world, only they have stopped funding WHO and no-one else has followed. This should give confidence to the Chinese that countries are lining up to gang up on it.

There will need to be a thorough impartial investigation after this for the world to move on and the Chinese to play a full part in world affairs afterwards.

I still remember this BS news. Seems like a well orchestrate plot to make the world believe , the first cluster cases happened in China. How can the AI tout so intelligence will failed to notice the unusual pueumonia death in Italy December 2019 and around the same period in Sept - oct 2018 near US fort Detrick area with same pueumonia unknown death cases?
