UK handovers Sea King helicopters to Pakistan Navy

5 of Pakistan's Sea Kings are 42-43 year olds & the 6th one is 31 years old.
So looks like replacement for the old ones.

No aircraft is old/junk as being commented by many members, who may have never seen a real military aircraft from the inside.

Airframe: The main part of the aircraft. It is designed for a specific number of hours which can easily be extended keeping in view the condition of the airframe.
Engines: are installed and have their own life in flight hours. The are overhauled/replaced as per their own schedule.
Main rotor & Tail rotor: Again replaced after completing their life.
Main Rotor Hub: The MRH assembly is one of the most sensitive part of the helo. again, it has its flight hours and is changed/replaced/overhauled as per schedule.
Hydraulics: Replaced after a specific time.
Electronics: Updated as per requirement.
Weapons: Updated as per requirement.
Sensors: Replaced/updated as per modification.

So basically it's only the airframe which matters, everything else is replaced/changed after its due flight time.
The airframes every 2 years undergo major maintenance/inspections to keep them in the best operational condition.

The B-52 first flew in 1952 and is still operational.

These are nearly 40 years old and obsolete technology helicopters, being faced out from British Navy.Nothing to be so cheerful about or is there?

My chchu flown these helis don't you dare to say a word about them :crazy_pilot:.
Something is better then nothing and these are not so obsolete as we saw them in operations for long without any hassle.

How about reviving the Lynx helis as we are in better position, terms and relations with Brits so we may be able to use these Lynx with upgrades.

these were good in their times but better equipment is out there. If memory serves even Canada replaced theirs.

They have been already retired. So no chance for further upgrade.

The Pakistan Navy has received the seven surplus Westland Sea King multi-role helicopters it had ordered from the United Kingdom (UK) in 2016, IHS Jane's Defence Weekly reported Wednesday.

The magazine, which reports on intelligence on global military and commercial defence activity, quoting the High Commission of Pakistan in London, said the platforms for the helicopters were officially handed over in a ceremony in London on May 24.

The ceremony was attended by Pakistan's High Commissioner to the UK, Syed Ibne Abbas, and Christopher Bob Richardson from the UK Ministry of Defence, among others.

The helicopters will undergo maintenance services by Vector Aerospace before they are shipped to Pakistan. The delivery is scheduled for later this year.

The defence magazine further stated, "The high commissioner lauded the historic relationship between the armed forces of Pakistan and the UK," adding he appreciated the role UK played in "capacity building of Pakistan Armed Forces both in terms of equipment support and training".

good, keep adding good, reliable and proven machines to avoid extra burden of maintenance and training etc. once who buying and will use know what they are doing. Indians are so scared, the start to wet pajamas even if we talk about remote control jahaz...

.
they are transport helis and as long they can transport they are just as good as any other

.
Any chance of purchasing any more choppers from UK perhaps a bit newer models
Would not mind seeing more UK choppers or Frigate ships purchased

Since we have operated 4 British Frigates in past would make sense to do a follow up purchase

Sure have ample options

Pakistan Navy should order 10 Units to station along the coastal cities for any potential Rescue need , this really is a very nifty platform for both coast guard / rescue or Patrol

NH90 just nice looking machine ideal for Special Mission team
