Four people have been arrested as part of an investigation into terrorist financing which has been linked to a Kurdish newspaper in the UK.

Two Kurdish women and two teenagers were arrested and questioned about the sale and distribution of Yeni Ozgur Politika - which means "New Free Politics".

Armed police carried out dawn raids on 7 December at addresses in Haringey.

Campaigners say the arrests are "an attack on freedom of expression".

Two 17-year-old boys, a 38-year-old woman and a 50-year-old woman were all arrested on suspicion of terrorist fundraising, terrorist money laundering and fraud offences, the Metropolitan Police said.

The raids were carried out at separate addresses in Alexandra Palace and Crouch End. All four arrested have been released on bail while inquiries continue.

'Shocking and worrying'
The Kurdistan Solidarity Campaign described the arrests as "an attack on freedom of expression".

It said the raids were "shocking and worrying, against ordinary Kurdish families carrying out perfectly legal activities in the distribution of this newspaper in the UK".

It added: "The paper reports on political developments in Turkey and cultural aspects of Kurdish people's lives."

"It has an important role for Kurds living across Europe, as Kurdish newspapers and radio stations in Turkey have been shut down due to sustained suppression by the Turkish state."

Yeni Ozgur Politika, is written in the Turkish and Kurdish languages and is sold in Kurdish shops, and community centres across Europe.

The coverage of Kurdish news and politics is a contentious issue because of the decades-long conflict in Turkey between the Kurdish population and the Turkish state.

Let's see if the Brits have guts to shut down this piece of sh!t paper. As always BBC sounds so pro-Kurdish btw.

. .
This toilet paper is also being sold in Switzerland, Germany and probably more European countries, its not only making pkk propaganda but also financially supporting them.

Just think for a second that we were not talking about pkk but isis, i dont even want to imagine the outrage....

Just think for a second
In UK the Kurds have done great job ingratiating with the mainstream. Almost every second "Euro" shops catering to the vast East European communities we have are owned by Kurds. They are seen as liberal, secular and "model" citizens. And they have garnered a sentiment that they deserve a independant Kurdistan.

Of course. But I am telling you what the prevaling sentiment in UK is about Kurds. Saying anything against Kurds is like shouting against a headwind. I know that Kurds have a issue with FGM but when I mentioned this to some English colleagues I got a severe reaction. Kurds have cultivated a secular, liberal, pro-West, image and as hard working solid pillars of the community.

Thats because they always use the opportunity to depict themselves as the victims, i didnt even count how many times Turks have been attacked by Kurds here, Espacially during Euro 2008, it was clearly a racist hate crime but when shit hits the fan they cry and scream facist Turk, Irony at its best.

Just one recent exsample:

Five wounded as PKK propagandists attack Turkish neighborhood in Belgium

Not to worry. We own most the houses that cater to East European tenants. :P

Thats because they always use the opportunity
That is very true.

@xenon54 You know you have the best signature on PDF. I might "plagiarize" it one of these days. It really is simple but profound and very true statement.

Kurdish are canon fodder for western agenda, turks are being duped.

I think everyone directly linked to such disgusting propoganda and pro-terrorist activity towards the Turkish state and citizenry should be declared as legitimate military targets and hunted down by the direct action units of the Turkish intelligence apparatus. I'm tired of watching scum underwrite the deaths of my countrymen and always come to us with the "free speech&human rights" arguments when we point out what is being supported in within their borders. It is past the point of negotiation.
