What is your definition of elite? Anycase, you can't charge tax to some one, by simply declaring him elite!
Taxes are suppose to be on income earned in same state, other wise its communism or extortion and it has to declared correctly.

Before enforcing any fare/unfair formulae of taxes.. it has to be understood that any money collected without delivering a service is mere extortion.

I like to draw attention that Pakistan is declared 'Islamic republic' therefore charging tax is technically illegal.
Actually, a bunch of foreign sponsored people are making fool of us in the name of 'Islamic Republic' we are forced to pay Zakat (Islamic taxation system) and money extorted in the name of tax.

No where in the world double taxes are imposed. IMO, all Pakisatni Muslims shall be exempted from taxes in same way as non Muslims are exempted from Zakat, with a simple declaration on affidavit.

In India an individual earning $500/month comes in tax bracket. He will have to pay 10% of the income.

I was using a raw figure, actual taxable net income is much lower.
By all standards it is low and is unjustified until the earning person have a family and his kids are not provided education and health services by the state collecting taxes.

If Indians decide to jump in hell we shall not follow suit!

A person earning as low as 308$/month(INR 16,500) in India has to pay 10% tax on his income in India.

I think in Pakistan also, income of $300/month is taxable, but it is unjustified in this period of globalization.
In Pakistan, cost of commodities is same as developed countries, while their quality is as half of what is served in developed states.

In addition, Muslims in Pakistan are forced to pay Zakat, while non Muslims are exempted, very unfare IMO.
Pakistanis, also have to pay surcharges ... in addition to taxes.

At the same time people of Pakistan pay for infrastructure in shape of road tax, toll tax and octroi etc.
All housing infrastructure and services sector is paid privately in addition to taxes.

Basically, the difference is only level of stupidity... Muslims of Pakistan are highly stupid and lack basic sense that they cannot see, that they pay highest amount of money to govt. for no good reason.

Perhaps, If people in India & Pakistan pay tax and their infrastructure is not like Japan than they shall simply stop paying it, until transparency is introduced and tangible results are delivered.

He is not far off the mark. Consider myself (actually not me but my mom), she picks up in excess of couple million dollars every season from sale of cotton/sugar cane etc etc. She however only pays a very minute amount in taxes (as she does not take loans and stuff and no bank are involved in the transactions - no one knows)..... And now consider this, she is a small/medium fish "zameendar"....

There is literally billions upon billions to be taxed. Furthermore, I don't blame my mom for it, reason being: I have seen that even if taxes were paid, they will be of no use as corruption rules the land. Whole system is corrupt from top to bottom.
