Ugly bullying:Shiv Sena protests against Shobhaa De outside her house, circulates her address viaSms

Are you serious?! I won't go near such women even with a 10-foot broomstick.

If you have a thing for Bengali women, there are many far more sizzling and intellectually appealing than Ghose or Roy.

You misunderstand. There are enough multi state chicks here in a student city to keep a young man busy. Very pretty ones. And liberal. And living far away from parents and nosy relatives.

The equation here is older woman + dominatrix + bong ......

.
Now read what I have written slowly. WHY is it wrong ?

She has the right to be obnoxious, SS has the right to protest.

Being obnoxious is not wrong, its rude. Do you understand the different ? Protesting might be inconveniencing others, but its not wrong either.

Now we are into wordplay ,seriously dude??

When i wrote "not unlawful" i meant that they have the right to do it,but how you use that right and to what end matters. In this case its just plain stupidity being displayed by shivsena.

.Dozens of hoodlums surrounding house of a women to intimidate her is not a display of maratha pride.

.
Morons like you are really a disgrace....Post like yours are showing what kind of maratha culture you possess...so yeah keep living in your la la land...and keep up the verbal diarrhea...a great tribute to "Jai Maharashtra"...
Thats total unnessessary comment... before this you are teaching us that how much intolerant we have to , and now only on one post you reached to abusing marathi culture......you know which is the most easiest thing in world.....TALK/ADVISE.

What word play ? I am stating facts.

And I am asking you "WHY it is wrong", and so far you have been UNABLE to answer that. How is it Stupidity ?

what hoodlums ? They are political party workers. Its a political protest, not a display of maratha pride. It a political statement. Its making political capital which is their right in a democracy.

Just calling silly names like "Arnab" in times now is not going to convince people :disagree:

You need to explain why it is "stupid", why it is "wrong", why they are "hoodlums" when they are not connected to any "hood".

Intellectual dishonesty is not appreciated. Lies will be exposed. Take you pick.

Yup....that's what i am saying...they portray them as care taker of Marath Pride..which get's hurt everytime they need to be back in news....Not sure where does this Maratha pride goes when record number of farmers commit suicide in Vidharba!!

They why sir, are you silent when a certain community or a couple of certain communities needlessly accuse another prominent communities of attacking them?

Is that not wrong?

As much as I personally not always approve the methods of Shiv Sena, please understand the method in which they conducted their protest.

The majority losers #presstitute media as the great general put it, didn't tell you much detail about how they protest was done.

Only a few sources say what exactly happened.

Here: Politics of vada pav: Here's how Shiv Sena won the PR battle against Shobhaa De - Firstpost

A debate over screening of Marathi films in theatres has now snowballed into a huge protest against Shobhaa De's comment on Twitter about Mumbai's favourite snack — the vada pav and misal.

After the Maharashtra government announced that it would be compulsory for multiplexes in Mumbai to screen Marathi films in at least one auditorium during prime time between 6 pm to 9 pm, Shobhaa De had criticised the government's move on several news channels.

However, that did not go down well at all. As the self-appointed guardian of everything Marathi, the Shiv Sena took it upon themselves to tell Shobhaa De that there should be no making fun of the working class people's evening snack.

While the Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana said outrageous things like "Since you have termed the decision of the state government as dadagiri, let us tell you (Shobhaa)...Had Chhatrapati Shivaji, in his time, and Balasaheb Thackeray not done 'dadagiri', then your forefathers and her children would have been born in Pakistan and you would have been attending Page 3 parties in a burqa," the saffron party's protest at De's house was much more calculated.

Given that Shiv Sena's style of protesting has been pretty violent so far, De was understandably worried when she found out that the party would protest at her place at 1 pm.

All of Mumbai knows what a Shiv Sena protest looks like — violent goons on bikes waving flags and chanting slogans. Often they have attacked media offices and vandalised toll booths when things did not go the way they wanted to. Once when a Pakistani band was set to perform in Mumbai, they brought a morcha to the Press Club demanding that the musicians return to their country.

But this time, as it turns out, the Sena surprisingly decided to approach things in a peaceful manner. Much to the suprise of the worried Shobhaa De, there were no goons, but only peaceful party workers with a package of vada pav as a gift for her. Their peaceful protest assumes significance because while De had termed their demands as 'dadagiri', a civilised protest with a gift of vadapav was a complete PR win over the criticism directed at them by the columnist.

And how could Shobhaa Aunty (yes, that's how the Sena addressed her in their banners) be angry when she has been offered a big box of delicious Shiv Vada Pav and Dahi misal?

In the Shobhaa De vs Shiv Sena politics of vada pav, Shiv Sena triumphed over De with their clever gift. While De was severely critical of the Sena over the past two days, she was actually forced to appreciate the gift brought for her. De tweeted out a photo of the package thanking the Sena.

You know, getting offended is not the thekedaari of only two other religious communities that thanklessly add to the burdens of our country (if they don't respect our motherland's cultures which they actually don't, the way other minorities like my people do).

People feel hurt and in India, they have a right to express their hurt feelings as much as others.
Shiv Sena was perfectly well within their legal rights to conduct their protest in a civil manner.

Hurtling insults and abuses towards others is not a one-way game for just #AdarshLiberals you know.

Rau...dude why are you posting my comment against an abusive moron as a generic abuse to Maratha Culture?? Can you please read it once again ??

.
Please dont mistake shiv sena antics for maratha pride. In this case her stand was absolutely correct. The carm of mumbai lies in it being a multifarious city like banglore.

Dude, I am a Sikkimese from northeastern India. Not even remotely connected to Shiv Sena or those who have state pride issues.

What I am trying to say is that Sena conducted this protest in the most unlikeliest of ways; very, very peacefully and in a civil manner.

What Devendra Phadnavis, Maha CM, ordered was to promote and preserve the artists of Marathi film industry, which in his state must have come from traditional marathi people who want to watch their state films in multiplexes. There is nothing wrong in promoting the state's culture and traditions.

He didn't tell people to stop watching Hindi or English movies. Just said that at least one hall must air the latest Marathi movie so that people of his state who wish to see such shows in multiplexes have the pleasure of viewing it there.

Mumbai is anyway far more tolerant than Delhi in terms of accepting other people.

Agreed but two wrongs dosent make one right. The way she reacted was stupid .That by no means justifies dozens of sena hoodlums surrounding her house and circulating her address.

I have just posted a link on how Sena protested.

If you think that this is thuggery or done by hoodlums, then you really don't know what is the meaning of the word:

Politics of vada pav: Here's how Shiv Sena won the PR battle against Shobhaa De - Firstpost

It was really a departure from the past activities of theirs; very decent, polite and well within legal rights.

Absolutely wrong....however what i am trying to point is history of Maratha's is too huge and culture strong enough to be shaken by some satire...it is this level of intolerance what i am trying to point at...
I am Sikh and do i need to tell you about the kind of sacrifices this community has done for this country and yet Santa/Banta jokes are out there every nook and corner of this country...now shall we simply keep on protesting saying they hurt our pride?? What kind of pride is this which get hurt by such a frivolous remark?? The real pride is not getting bothered by such comments..no??

Sorry for misunderstanding....now can you understand what can happen when you taken words out of context...
As screening marathi movie is already there before these govt. BJP just change the timing of films...as due strong nexus between bollywood distributor and multiplex owner marathi movie get only morning show, now who the he!! will go for morning show..she hellbend like somebody forces her watch marathi movie...all other things already clarify by @Tshering22 ...thanks bhai (saving my time:-):-):-))

Why is it wrong?
Because of them trying to make it appear as if she's hurt marathi sentiments which she has not.
If you cant find something wrong which dozens of shiv sena "workers" protesting outside house of a women over a non issue then lets just say you and I have been brought up differently with very different way of looking at things and call it a day.

No worries...and yes it can happen...

As screening marathi movie is already there before these govt. BJP just change the timing of films...as due strong nexus between bollywood distributor and multiplex owner marathi movie get only morning show, now who the he!! will go for morning show..
Morning shows are there for a reason....Here are two wrongs...a) forcing to show Marathi Films...b) Forcing a specific time frame... Congress is guilty of first and BJP both(because not only they endorsed congress move but even went further)...As said in some previous tag...if Marathi movies are popular then economics will drive them...Govt. simply have no business is forcing a specific way to do business...

she hellbend like somebody forces her watch marathi movie...all other things already clarify by @Tshering22 ...thanks bhai (saving my time:-):-):-))
What she thinks or not is none of my concern...

She did hurt marathi sentiment by her Marie Antoinette like statement, where she said "No more pop corn at multiplexes in Mumbai ? Dahi misal and vada pav only".

If you find nothing wrong in that statement, you must be brought up "special".

That was a cheap shot and now she is getting fair payback.

now google Marie Antoinette and find out what she is supposed to have said, and why the French revolutionaries chopped off her head. :coffee:

You thinking that it as a "non issue", is irrelevant. That women makes a living off making cheap comments and writing, she used a public platform and her fame for a political cheap shot. Now she gets to fight her own political battle. The one in which she drew the first blood.

I do not care if you are from Nagpur or from France. That has no relevance to the topic.

You might be keen to portray yourself as the spokesperson for Marathi manus, but you are not. So your personal opinion means nothing. Shoba de is a Maharashtrian too. :coffee:

Those ARE Maharashtrian dishes and it was NOT an analogy, it was a derisive comment, designed to mocking the decision and show it as unsophisticated and crude. It was to scoff at and scorn the marathi dishes i.e. part of marathi culture.

Popcorn the imported marvel vs the local cheap vada pav. It is rather obvious her comment was to ridicule the notion of Marathi movies playing at multiplexes. But you can continue to pretend to be blind and continue to say, "all is well". The public is not buying it any more.

And neither is shiv sena.

It was an anaolgy and was not deriding Maharashtrian dishes.Popcorn is commonly eaten in multiplexes btw.Your inherent bias against her is clouding your judgement.
